open headphone 120 ohm is hd515 April 2, 2008 P. Wells (Brighton, UK.) Despite being ambiguously headlined, these are in fact the audiophile Sennheiser HD 515's (at least mine were). They are usually marketed for up to double the price current when my purchase was made. Comfortable, good build quality, plenty of bass - clear incisive treble. (See other glowing reviews under "HD515")
Audiophilia on a budget!! December 2, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
These headphones take you to the next level of technical excellence. The range of sound production is beyond the range of human hearing, but more importantly the 'phones have a fast response and clear accurate reproduction. Even connection to 'lesser' sound sources (such a mini-disc/mp3 player) will see a notable improvement in sound quality. Don't expect the same performance as the dearer HD600 series(at 3 or 4 times the price!) but frankly, for not a lot more than the cost of a set of top-end 'common-brand' headphones you're buying into something altogether more special, with a lot of the basic design elements that make the top-end Sennheisers deserving of their reputation. If you see yourself as a budding audiophile but aren't sure that you want to spend the hundreds(or thousands!) that go with it, a set of these playing from a decent CD player or MP3 player will give you a good introduction as to what can be had for money carefully spent!
