Great for the price, but part of me wishes I'd spent more July 10, 2007 D. Hale (Ross, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok, for 9 these headphones are a pretty good buy. However, after using them for a couple of weeks part of me wishes I hadn't been so cheap and had gone for some slightly more expensive ones. The good: I am pretty impressed by the overall build quality of these. I expected them to be very light (usually a sign of low-quality) but they're actually a decent, comfortable weight. On amazon.com one guy complains about the strap, saying they don't fit him. I think he probably has a mishapen head as they fit me well and are very comfortable. Finally, they also look nice in the silver finish and the false leather lining is comfy and doesn't get sweaty or anything. The bad: I know these are only cheap so I won't be too harsh...However, the sound quality, although being acceptable isn't very dynamic. They're great for listenning to stuff like Nirvana's In utero because they have so much bass, however I tend to prefer music with more layers to it, so this can be a problem. When listenning to music with alot of midrange and treble you really miss out. Listenning to stuff like Joy Division and Pixies I noticed that all I could really hear was the bassline, the jagged lead guitar and jangly rhythm sections were just muddy and indistinguished. The same occurs when I use them for gaming, they're hard work to listen to because they can get very 'thumpy' sounding especially on shooting games etc. To conclude, these are a good first set of headphones if you don't care about sound quality. I use them for recording music to the PC which they work fine for as I only want them to stop the mic picking up sound from the speakers when I record new tracks. On the other hand, if you aren't a cheapskate with no job (like me), then I'd say you're better off spending 25 or more and getting headphones that actually have treble.
