Acceptable sound quality but by no means HiFi. April 30, 2008 A. MCNATTY (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased these speakers because I've always wanted to have sound (be it music, tv or movie) throughout the flat. The idea being that the person who is up making coffee or for general wandering of the house you can still hear the music, tv or movie playing. I expect to be able to use them when barbecuing, or lounging outside, etc. I have had these speakers in use for over 6 months now and can say that they do fulfill this requirement for me. Having said that they haven't blown me away either. I am pleased that I only got the 30-40 pair. Given the build quality this seems border line value. I currently have one speaker in the kitchen and one in the hallway. We usually leave them off (power saving). On powering up there can be intermittent crackle at times and the occasional background hiss. I have found that re-pairing the devices (hitting the re-pair speaker button) can help clear this up - generally the sound is clear once you have found a reasonable location (trial and error). Kitchen appliances can interfere, but generally given acceptable sound volumes you won't hear anything anyway. The sound quality is not fantastic - they are OK for background sound but don't expect to be able to crank them up or get any decent depth of sound. But again for the purposes I intended them for (and the cost) this is acceptable. So I would say overall I am happy with my purchase.
Excellent value January 28, 2008 JUDY (Shropshire) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Realy pleased with these speakers, good sound and easy to sey up. Very good value for money.
I like them....I think! December 19, 2007 D. Thorpe (Lincolnshire, UK) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
Out of the box - Very impressive, although the transceiver is a bit cheap and nasty looking (but you can always tuck that away behind your music system/computer). The speakers look really good for the price. They're no expensive and as such you can't expect good quality speakers. There is a hiss from them when listening to very quiet music (eg classical)and when turned off they tend to emit a hum which can be heard if all is quiet in the house. I have them set to mono, with one in the kitchen and the other set on the bookcase on the landing. We recently had a little baby, so turning the volume up on the stereo so that I can hear it upstairs is not an option. These speakers have resolved this problem. If I'm wandering around the house now I can pretty much hear my music anywhere indoors. A second set would really sort me out, but I can't see me buying any more. I'm kind of satisfied with them in performance but really happy that I have my music in other parts of the house. If you can't be bothered turning them off, a word of warning: if you have a Sky gnome for example, after a while with the music off the speakers will seek a new frequency and latch on to whatever channel your Sky box is on! My TV was off but the sky box was on - Scared the *%& out of me! (I thought God wanted to have a chat!) Value for Money: 7/10 Looks: Speakers 9/10 transceiver 3/10. Quality of sound: 5/10. In short if you want good quality sound look somewhere else, but if you just want something to pump music in to other parts of your house these are for you. I'll keep mine, I like them enough.
Clever little speakers from Connected Essentials November 11, 2007 Paul H 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
They are easy to set up, the signal is clear and they have decent volume levels if you're going to use them outside at a bbq etc. I also use them in the conservatory to provide background music if we have friends over. Tip: there is a significant improvement in the sound quality if you turn the Bass Boost off and remove the cloth grilles. Hi-fi speakers these are not, however they are more than adequate for casual listening. In addition my wife likes them as they don't take up a lot of room or have lots of trailing wires. Definitely a good buy.
A must have for any home October 6, 2005 Dazzling (Stockport, Cheshire United Kingdom) 83 out of 91 found this review helpful
I bought my wireless speakers as I had a barbecque in August. The were just perfect and meant I didn't have to go to the usual trouble of reeling out extension leads and tripping over wires etc.I have since decided to use them in the house and have seperated the speakers and I have in my bedroom and one in my study. This way I can listen to music in both rooms. The power adapters supplied with them mean that I don't have to keep going out to get batteries. All in a all a very versatile product!
