Happy Feet June 27, 2008 Lisa F. (Cambridge, England) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've been wearing Birkenstock Arizona sandals, off and on, since 1990. As a transplanted New Yorker living in Britain, I've had a really hard time finding comfortable shoes. Until recently, Birkenstocks could only be found in specialist shops and were very expensive. But I've bought them, nevertheless because I just love them! For the last several weeks my feet have been aching and uncomfortable. Early in the day, especially, the pain spreads up my inner ankle and makes walking (and even balancing!) uncomfortable. I have low arches and normally wear an orthopedic device in my shoes. Last week I decided to get some new Birks, reasoning that the support in 3-year-old Birks is just not as rigid as in brand new ones. Was I ever right! I put these new ones on immediately - however, it took me over an hour to realise that my foot and leg pain had totally vanished! I am amazed (and thrilled!) - so much so that I have just ordered another pair for myself (in another colour!) and a pair for my husband. I am so very happy with my purchase - and the Amazon price for the basic shoe (Arizona, DK Brown leather) is very good, indeed!
comfortable, simple, great June 16, 2008 LukusPukus (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought my first pair of Arizona Birenstock sandals about 4 years ago and they've survived knee deep mud, rain, dust. And have travelled up mountains through valleys and along along countless city street. They're pretty much a design classic. So simple there's not really much that can go wrong; and incredibly comfortable too. Took a while to get used to wearing sandals that slip on, but after a while they mould to the shape of your feet. I ended up being a bit depressed at the end of each summer, because it meant I had to go back to wearing shoes and trainers for the winter. One thing though - I bought a pair which were all leather on the uppers and had a rough, nubuck/suede appearance... I've noticed in the shops that a lot of the leather sandals have a synthetic backing - not sure if those would have been as durable?
most comfortable ever January 24, 2008 Nik C (UK) 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
I like slippers like that. They give my feet a bit of stability, my feet don't slip in and out, and they are nice and cool. Which everyone with feet that tend to get hot easily will appreciate. I always had slippers of that kind, but now after not being able to find them in the shops I found them on here on amazon (what next, amazon? Cars, Trains and planes?!) and thought I give it a go instead of trawling another 5 high streets or shopping centres. Worked out. I hit the sixe on the head straight away and got them after a couple of days.
