Amazon.co.uk Review
Geri Halliwell's transformation from Spice Girl to hip babe owes as much to her taking up yoga--a step she shares with us in Geri Yoga--as it does to revamping her wardrobe. Where Madonna and Sting have led the craze in this field, Geri has decided to show us all the yoga way. The 90-minute Geri Yoga features yoga teacher Katy Appleton presenting two warm up sections, a core Hatha yoga class, relaxation, along with an interview with Geri on yoga as a lifestyle.

The entire session appears unscripted, which means it captures the spontaneity of a lesson, yet it's presented in a slick manner from a modern airy studio. A former dancer with the English National Ballet, Katy Appleton's confident poise and ease diffuses Geri the star. Appleton manages to balance her instructions and attention between Tina (the beginner in the sessions) and the advanced Geri, enabling viewers to see how they can progress. Yoga aficionados will be impressed by the precision of Appleton's teaching and horrified by Geri's inane babbling. Unless you're a die-hard Geri fan who can forgive the inappropriate references to calories, you'll be waiting for Appleton to release Yoga without Geri.

On the DVD: Geri fans will lap up the extended interview, while non Geri fans will be thankful for the isolated music score. There is also an additional session geared to re-energising and revitalising body and mind. --Lorna V

3 out of 5 stars Look at me!   November 2, 2008
Dr. M. SAMANTA-LAUGHTON (United Kingdom)
This is a DVD I bought a while back and had forgotten why I don't use it all that often. In a word - Geri who proves why she brought out a song called 'Look at Me'. Nothing against her - I wish I could write songs that gross millions, but she is distracting in this video by her constant need for attention. Katy Appleton is fantastic and if you can follow the instruction despite the interruptions this is a good program that tones you up in no time, something that not all yoga DVDs can do. The instructions about the breath are very clear and you can tell that Katy is passionate about her work. If only Katy's classes were closer to my home, I'd go attend them. Geri should take a leaf out of Cher's book to see how a celeb DVD can give the fans what they want from their hero without distracting the instructor or the audience.

5 out of 5 stars My favourite fitness dvd   December 27, 2007

Over the years I have bought many fitness dvd's and geri yoga and cindy crawford's first dvd are the only two that I really use.

The workouts in geri yoga are great, at first I was following the simpler stuff but after a couple of goes I could do the harder positions.

In terms of fitness, yoga is great for toning and weightloss, at the end of the dvd you do actually find yourself very hot and sweaty! And there is a fabulous chill out section at the end - Katy Appleton's voice actually sends me off to sleep!

I would really recommend geri yoga to anyone that wants to lose weight, tone up and also feel its stress-relieving benefits! I showed the dvd to a couple of friends and they liked it and bought it straight away!

3 out of 5 stars Great (if you can forgive geri's babbling interuptions)   March 15, 2007

bought this video a long time ago and never used it, but came back to it a little while ago whilst looking for a way to do some non-strenuous exercise.

The actual yoga in this video is brilliant. It's taught in a calm relaxed manner which is great for a beginner like myself, and if you can forgive geri's babbling, and katy's hippy references to chi (your leg seems longer cause you've stretched it, not because you've 'released the energy'!) you will find the exercises oddly addictive.

Overall I have found this dvd brilliant for not only exercise, but as a form of stress relief. By following the dvd you find yourself relaxing and feeling so much better mentally as well as physically. The only thing i regret is not doing this sooner!

The one thing I would say though is that you really have to be in the right frame of mind to get into this. If a fast paced workout like the pump it up dvd's is what you're used to, then you might find this too slow.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but could be better...   March 16, 2005

I ordered Geri Yoga to try and get an introduction DVD for yoga. The DVD is well put together, and the positions are explained through. I like Geri and think she is funny as a person, but if I had a yoga class with her, I'd kill her.
Geri is great at yoga, but she tried to make the DVD too funny. It was hard to get into it and really relax because Geri talks A LOT. She is always pulling away from the instructor (Katy Appleton) and the instructor always gets sidetracked by having to converse with Geri.
I consider this DVD "A.D.D. Yoga", if you like being distracted, let Geri take you there.

Otherwise, it's a good program and can be quite challenging for beginners. I like it, but it's definitely not my favorite.

4 out of 5 stars A great introduction to yoga!   February 9, 2005

This was the first exercise video I bought, after it was recommended to me by a friend. As someone who is sooooo unflexible, I thought this wouldn't suit me - I was wrong! It takes a few runs of the video before you can master the breathing techniques with the postures, but after 2 weeks of doing the video each day, I could see definite results! The workout is broken into sections, to fit in with all hectic schedules, which is a bonus! Now, my jeans are loose and my whole body is toned! A great introduction to yoga!
