Not for beginners!!!! June 15, 2008 Compassionate Heart (N.E. England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Oh my! Having had a one to one, attended a beginners class of six people, and tried one other Pilates DVD, that was also too fast, I bought a copy of this for myself and one for my friend as a birthday pressie. I'm disappointed, definitely not for beginners, which I still am. Nor for the unfit, or those with difficulty moving 'cause their body is a bit past it's best, and no amount of WD40 would get these joints moving quickly (unfortunately, I also fit this category!)! There is no mention of thoracic breathing, of 'zipping and hollowing' the 'Pilates way' to protect the back, I found it quite aerobic like in pace, and I thought Pilates was a SLOW but effective exercise. I'm going to try one more DVD - Lynne Robinson's Pilates for Beginners, if I get no more joy with pace and content, I'll go back to small classes.
Really Works June 2, 2008 Callisy (Cheshire UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my second 10 minute solutions dvd and I think they are excellent. As other reviewers point out, you are not shown how to find your core on this dvd hence I have marked it down a star. In my opinion there should be a short section in the intro just to show people how to do these exercises correctly. I haven't done a lot of pilates but know the general idea, but I really struggled due to how fast it is. I will be practising my technique first before doing a lot of this dvd. that said, I do think it looks fantastic, and when she only has 10 minutes to work you out, it's going to be quick!
excellent 'do-able' workouts in very little time May 28, 2008 Meerkat (Dereham, Norfolk) I think this dvd is excellent. One of the best features is the option to 'build your own workout' - you can select the six 10-minute slots in any order you like so there's no fiddly going back to the menu and finding the next one etc. You can also select just one to do on its own. The workouts are tough, be warned! The instructor is calm and very focused and gives excellent clear and simple instructions - I found it very easy to do with no previous history of doing Pilates at all. The workouts are very effective and very short. For your 30 minutes a day, pick any 2 and follow them with the 'flexibility' section to stretch out and you'll be done in no time. I recommend this for busy people who want to tone up.
Love this DVD May 20, 2008 Smee (London UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Really enjoy this DVD. Even though the instructor moves through the moves quite quickly (well it is a 10 minute session!) it feels like you get an even, all-round workout. I started to notice the difference in flexibility within weeks but there are still exercises that I cannot do properly so the challenge is still there. The last section is lovely and i will often do these gentle stretches after working out to other DVD's. I get very bored with DVD's but I combine this one with other 10 min solutions (Blast off belly fat, Slim & Sculpt pilates and Pilates Rapid results) and they provide me with enough variety to maintain interest.
Excellent for us mums!!!! April 9, 2008 Thepinklady (England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did a pilates class for a couple of years and then had another child. I swore I would go back as this is the best type of work out for us mums!. Not really having the time to go back a class this looked like a great solution to help me get back to yummy mummy status. I've just done the whole DVD and this really challenges you, without watching the clock. There are alot of moves I have never done before and I guess I will feel it tomorrow!!!!!
