Success With Salsacise! March 10, 2008 Chris Miles (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I am a 50+ grandma, with an ongoing history of back/joint problems and a dislike of "the gym". Although fitter and slimmer than some my age, I realised my overall fitness level had been markedly deteriorating and I needed to do more, despite walking and cycling regularly. Rosemary's box set has been my salvation and, after just two months of exercising for about one hour, five times a week, I am supple and can actually see my muscles toning up week on week. My family are amazed at the difference in me. This set provides a choice of workouts for all levels but is particularly mindful of those beginning this sort of exercise and those with the need for low impact exercise. I cannot recommend this set enough. Thank you to Rosemary and her teams of "real" people!
Slim and Salsacise January 30, 2008 A Customer (Northern England) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have been a fan of Rosemary Conley for over 10 years. Apart from walking the dog and occasional swimming, I am not very active. But I am constantly being told that I must exercise so I have regularly used Rosemary Conley exercise tapes and CDs. They are low impact and now that I am in my sixties that's all I can manage! This Salsa CD is new to me and I prefer it to straightforward exercise. It is more fun but I feel just as breathless, exercised and toned. I mainly use the easier sessions but I am sure the harder salsasice sessions would be suitable for anyone, regardless of age, who enjoys dancing and likes to keep fit.
Fun workout December 29, 2007 Skater Gal (London, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by these DVDs. The workouts are fun and depending on how much energy you put in, you really can work up a sweat. I found the steps easy to follow but I think that's because I already know how to salsa, although the cha, cha cha part isn't what I normally do, but I can see how it helps to burn more calories. If you haven't got much salsa experience it might be a bit challenging but she shows you the moves at the beginning to help you become more familiar with the steps. This is great because you can always go back to double check on moves. The music is a mixture of fast and slow so you're not falling over your feet. When it comes to the 10-minute tone up, make sure you have a resistance band or some weights. But I think the band is better because without it, I didn't feel as if I was really working hard. In fact I wasn't even out of breath. I'm not a beginner at exercising so that could have been the reason. All in all, I would say go for it and get the DVD box set~ it works out cheaper in the end too. Have fun!
Enjoyable exercise! April 12, 2007 Sarah (West Yorkshire, UK) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
These are the ones that I put on when I've done a more intense workout the day before, as the steps are based on salsa steps it doesn't really feel like your working out. I was disappointed at first as I didn't really seem to be working my body hard enough but my hips and legs have toned up with this and if you do it the day after a harder workout you will feel which muscles are being worked out. Both workouts claim to burn up to 500 calories but that is determined by you as you have to put more energy into the movements to achieve this. Not exactly an all body workout but great for scuplting the legs and hips and if you put enough energy into it you will break a sweat. It's made me consider joining a salsa class too!
Good fun February 25, 2007 S. Green (Hertfordshire, UK) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
Well, I've got two left feet and previously avoided dance like the plague but in the privacy of my own living room, I'm getting up on my toes and really enjoying dance for the first time. The variety of workouts means I won't get bored - I have really enjoyed this.
