Muppet Genius - again! January 6, 2009 Julian Richards (UK) I grew up with the Muppets, so I have a real soft spot for them. This take on the outstanding classic by Dickens is superb. The use of Gonzo as a narrator [Dickens] giving extra information to the audience, and his interaction with Rizzo the rat is great and really adds to the enjoyment of the film. All the usual muppet characters make an appearance, with Kermit and Piggy taking centre stage as Bob Cratchett and his wife. Michael Caine makes a great Scrooge, and the use of muppets throughout gives the whole film a great "dream-like" quality that really works. I would rate this film as one of the best films I have ever seen!

This is a brilliant movie for people of all ages, but the fact that Belle's song has been dropped has been a huge disappointment. Big mistake to leave that particular song out of the film. I just wish I had read Judith Barrow's review 2006 before purchasing. I totally agree with her.
Best telling of a Christmas Carol! December 31, 2008 Mr. S. D. Heppell (UK) We watch this film every Christams! It's the best version of this book- it remains faithful to Dickens in the sense that the novel is very playfully narrated but also poignant and moving- I think Dickens would approve of this version. It's also the Muppets finest moment too- it's a great vehicle for all the Muppet characters who are very well 'cast' in their roles. The film has excellent production values- nicely created sets, special effects and well choreographed songs which must have been a challenge to do with puppets! Caine is excellent of course. Like many others, we stick to the VHS version as the DVD has Belles Song cut - what a travesty!
Can't believe they cut the song!!!!! December 25, 2008 lostunderthestars (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this film but cannot believe they cut 'the love is gone'. Apparently they thought it would be too boring for children but I've been watching this film every year since I was 9 and I have never found i boring! I bought the DVD to replace my worn out video, but have gone back to the video! My star rating isn't for the film - if it was it would be 5* - it is for the cutting of the song from this classic film - its like someone has butchered the film!
Muppet-tastic! December 12, 2008 N. A. Smith (MI6) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Cant tell you how good this movie is, you really will have to watch it! If you have kids they will love it! It is VERY close to the original book. Enhanced by the muppet's music and zany charecters, it brings the classic story to life and fills you full of Christmas cheer! Always brings a smile to my face when I watch it, which is now an annual event in my house!, HIGHLY recommended for all the family. Also im actually GLAD the dreary Belle song has vanished from the movie! Cheers
