My wee boy loves this... January 21, 2004 Strath_Bookworm (Scotland) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Living away from Scotland, and with 2 1/2 year old and 6 month old boys, this DVD was a present from more than one of our pals back in Scotland this Christmas! I had not seen Balamory before, as it has never made it to Fininsh TV (yet!!), so was a bit wary. I didn't even know, actually, whether it was animation or with real actors. I watched a 20 minute episode with our 2 1/2 year old before bed and he loved it straight away, the colourful characters, the songs, the happy faces of Miss Hoolie's inmates and the recapping of the sdtories seems to be a winning formula. I read that 400,000 UK kids watch this, so it is obviously quite big outside of Scotland too - I just hope lovely Tobermory will be able to cope with the extra visitors! Our only problem now is that we can hardly wait for other videos to be made available from Balamory... I already know this one off by heart after a couple of weeks, as no other programmes are getting a look in any more!
An ecstatic mother living overseas January 14, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As we live overseas we only get Balamory occasionally on BBC Prime and my now 2 year old was always asking to watch it as he was enchanted with all the different colours and people. I was ecstatic when the BBC finally released the first Balamory video/dvd in November as i'm now able to put it on whenever he asks, even my 10 month old enjoys it, can't wait until they release the next one in February as it's definately one of my more favourite childrens educational programmes.
The Balamory magic is back. November 19, 2003 13 out of 31 found this review helpful
Any child that likes the TV series will love this. It has the usual charm and warmth in all three episodes. With the regulars making an apperence and the usual fun and music for the children to join in with, this is one not to miss.
