Be Kind Fast Forward August 6, 2008 KM (England) `Be Kind Rewind' stars Mos Def as Mike who works for Mr Fletcher (Danny Glover) at a video store that still stocks VHS. One day after trying to sabotage a generator, Mike's friend Jerry (Jack Black) gets electrocuted and becomes magnetic, which then wipes all of the tapes in the store. Mike and Jerry then decide to "Swede" some of the popular titles, including Ghostbusters, Rush Hour 2 and Driving Miss Daisy, amongst many others, which quickly become very popular with the local residents. After seeing the trailer for this I was looking forward to seeing it for a long time but was just so disappointed with the whole thing. The only parts of the film that actually made me laugh were the parts where Mike and Jerry (and a few extras) were re-making (sweding) the films but apart from that (which was only actually for a small part of the film) it was a very flat and dull comedy that was also very predictable with all of the un-necessary Fats Waller references early on and was just generally too dumb to enjoy. I've seen other films starring Mos Def and Jack Black and both of them are good actors and this just is well below both of their abilities. The picture and sound quality is superb but even this does not make up for the quality of the rest of the production. Overall this is very bland and not all that funny really. It's probably worth a rent if you're feeling down as it is fairly heart-warming in parts but is not one that I can see anyone watching again.
