There goes another rib... October 27, 2008 Norman Cheeseworthy Ok, so series 2 isn't quite as funny as series 1, but come on, when you look at the total rubbish on TV at the moment, series 2 still stands head and shoulders above the rest. The first series was always going to be difficult to beat, but this isn't far off, and there are plenty of laugh out loud moments and near wet yourself before you get to the toilet scares to keep all Green Wing fans happy for hours. Some of the reviews for series 2 have been very harsh indeed, and totally unjustified. Bottom line - if you enjoyed the first series, you WILL enjoy this too - I promise!
A tremendous follow up September 29, 2008 D. Gallacher (Edinburgh, Scotland) Imagine a British version of Scrubs, and you're almost 75% there. Only scrap the sentimentality, scrap the pretty cast, and inject some series surreality. Now I know, Scrubs has surreality, but it is always kept firmly behind the curtain of imagination. In Green Wing, the crazy stuff genuinely happens, and no one makes any concessions to make it plausible. Crude, subtle, and epicly British, this is a must see for all fans of good British comedy. Anyone who can watch Mark Heap truly master his craft and not be crippled laughing is truly one with no soul.
No longer quirky, just a bit annoying December 3, 2007 Ms. B. Harper (Flackwell Heath, Buckinghamshire United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If series one of Green Wing was a stand alone thing, it would be the pride of my DVD collection. I would think it was one of the best things since... well, sliced bread. But despite it being one of the most watched DVDs on my shelf, it is now tainted by its older brothers sat next to it. Series 2 tries very hard to recapture what made Series 1 so groundbreakingly fab; but it is so obvious that they are trying hard - the visual gags, fast forwards and fast editing style are all still there, the jokes are as thick and fast as before. Some scenes are so much funnier than any in the first series, but it doesn't work this time, there is a real feeling that it is contrived and forced. Some bits work better than others, what really switched me off was the constant ups and downs between Caroline and Mac - it was a lovely storyline, but will-they won't-they was fairly tired at the end of series 1.... no episode is complete without an absurd twist in their tale. This stopped being quirky to me and became attention seeking - it was as though a whole new creative group were trying to eminate the first series. If you are desperate to buy a quirky, fast, hilarious comedy and loved series 1 of Green Wing, buy Spaced, Darkplace or the Boosh before this!!
Surreal genius. August 30, 2007 Mr. D. Bowman 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Green Wing is in my opinion the most brilliant show of the last 5 years. Surreal, witty, silly and insane - it made me laugh non-stop. Every character is funny in vastly different ways. The jokes are original and fresh, the cats perfect and the crazy direction an editing is inspired. However rare it is the have an entire cast be brilliantly funny, from the Surgens to the HR office staff the awared for the funniest character goes to Michelle Gomez for her brilliantly zany Sue White. I'd hate to ruin the brilliant of ever one of her moments, but nobody else could play this part so amazingly well and have you in suc stiches that you have to rewind the entire next scene because you missed it from laughing. Possibly the funniest Sit-com character in years. Sadly 2 series and 1 special isn't enough Green Wing. I hope the possible spin off does occur but I'd hate to see any character not return. The are all so fantastically funny. A DVD to buy and treasure.
Very good but a bit of a let down. July 1, 2007 Sam Taylor (Hampshire, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
In a way it pains me to give this DVD only a 3 star rating, yet I feel it is justified when it is compared to its predicessor, series one. Series One of Green Wing was fantastic, it had moments that had me laughing in hysterics and is still, even over a year after buying it something I love watching. Having recently bought Series 2 I was expecting to once again be buying something I would tressure and re-watch for years to come. I'm sad to say I was rather dissapointed. Series two does have it moments; there were parts that did have me laughing out loud and the trademark 'style' is still there, but in comparison to the magnificent series one it is a let down. If you buy it you won't regret buying it but if you have experianced the first series then it will be a dissapointment.
