nasty, nasty people in beautiful locations August 20, 2008 dan the fan (england,uk) This is a nice film to watch from the point of view of the photography of beautiful locations in spain and it gives an intriguing and at times humorous insight into how bad and ruthless british gangsters are,but I didn't like the way the main character justified becoming one of them by saying that the alternative to being this bad was living an honest but boring life in london.God help Spain if London is that boring!
decent british gangster flick June 8, 2008 martin thomas (england) one of the better british gangster movies made in recent years.this is well acted and well made and is recommended
Alright Frankie? May 28, 2008 Aaron Mulholland Great film, great soundtrack. Tamer Hassan and Danny Dyer hook up again after Football Factory and this would attract an audience that mightn't have bothered with this film. Plenty of action and funny moments and some more serious- head on a spike for instance. Good to see some faces you know and some you don't.
Decent gangster fairytale December 3, 2007 Jazzman (UK) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I wouldn't normally go out of my way to watch a film like The Business. However, I bought a copy and have to say - I really did enjoy it. This movie isn't for everyone, and if you don't like your filmic subject matter to contain elements from the 'grimier side of life' - you're going to probably hate it. But, beneath all of this is an entertaining story. Not a serious dramatisation of life as a gangster, but more a sort of urban fable, and for that reason shouldn't be taken too seriously, yet still offers up morality for the viewer. The characters are believable, and engaging. Plus, the movie doesn't out-stay its welcome and moves along at a brisk pace, and doesn't get boring or preachy one bit. It's not a classic, but it's worthy of a watch.
Top film October 4, 2007 Londoner (London UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Seen it several times and really enjoyed it. This film has it all, great scenary, good storyline, good actors all playing roles which come naturally to them, top soundtrack... I won't spoil the story but highly recommended.
