"Master of the cruel one-liner"--Evening Standard "His eye for absurdity is as sharp as his suits"--Guardian Critically acclaimed comedian Frankie Boyle presents his hotly-anticipated first live stand-up DVD. Recorded live during his sell-out shows at London’s Hackney Empire, Frankie’s unique brand of observational comedy and brutal but perfectly constructed one-liners prove he is one of the best gag writers in the business. As the stand out act on top-rated satirical comedy show Mock The Week, the sharp-suited Scotsman shows us just a slice of what he’s capable of. In this DVD he unleashes his razor-sharp wit upon the audience with jokes that are too near the knuckle for TV, constantly venturing onto thin ice with outrageous jibes that could be utterly offensive if not delivered with equal measures of visceral cheek and sarcasm, demonstrating the full force of his comic prowess. Extras: F**K You Scotland – behind the scenes tour diary Sketches from BBC3 comedy Rush Hour Drug experiment – additional audio material Check out the dates of Frankie's 2008 tour:

Dissapointing November 17, 2008 Mr. S. D. Cox (London) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'll keep this brief. If you've never seen Frankie Boyle and your a fan of offensive, crude & topical humour then you will absolutely love this and there is no doubt the guy is hugely funny. If though like me you've seen Frankie on Mock The Week and his performance at Live at The Appollo then you will have seen\heard half of this act. 45 mins of the 90 was new material to me but the rest you've heard word for word. Its a real shame. As others have said its a pretty lazy effort that is simply cashing in on his success on Mock the Week so seriously think twice about purchasing.
Excellent Show November 17, 2008 S. Thomas (Cornwall, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was lucky enough to see frankie in Toquay on the 14th of Nov, and I thought much of his show had not actually been aired on Mock the week, there were a few of the same references but alot of his material (on the night) seemed topical to recent event's therefore impossible to have previously been seen before. I have watched the DVD and having seen the show, much of it is the same material, which is to be expected to be honest, all in all though i think his quick witted and close to the knuckle style comedy is excellent and this DVD is must have for any true frankie fan.
Been there, done that... November 17, 2008 Ticked Off I love Frankie on MTW, but I was deeply disappointed to see that 90% of this DVD was him recycling the same material used on that show. How many people get paid twice for the same work? Nice if you can get it! Although, to be fair, I think the DVD was filmed before the material was used on MTW, so probably most of the audience there on the night got fresh material and only thought "Hang on a minute..." when they watched MTW some months later. Still, either way you cut it - Frankie needs to stop cheating his fans by regurgitating his material quite so much. I also agree that there seemed to be an undercurrent throughout the DVD - it seemed to me as though a significant section of the audience just wasn't with him. As for insulting the audience - some comedians can do this well. Dara O'Briain, for instance, does it very well and it comes across as just gentle teasing between good friends. But Frankie had me squirming. His comments were just mean and rude. There was one woman in particular who should have gotten up right there and then and slapped him for the disgusting comments he made about her being less than thin. When I go to a theatre I don't expect the comedian to insult me to the point where I end up in tears. I go to be entertained. I'd be surprised if some of his victims didn't go home feeling as though they'd been punched in the gut. So in conclusion - don't waste your cash on this. Just tape MTW and you'll get 99% of the DVD for free.
Great Show November 14, 2008 R. Daniels (Wales) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Went to Frankie's Cardiff gig and, assuming it's the same set, this DvD will be brilliant. Loved every minute of it. Good job Frankie!
Sick stuff November 12, 2008 Jeffrey Carruth (Scotland) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Frankie Boyle is in good form at this show, although alot of the jokes have been told on T.V, duing the show he even makes the comment "How am I gonna get this stuff on the next series of Mock the week". So maybe this disc was released a bit late, but it is still brilliant.
