Not a prayer? July 31, 2008 M. Appeven (Netherlands) 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
Love Wire in the Blood. Think it's really intelligent, makes you pay attention. Tony Hill is an amazing character. I'm just wondering why the Texas episode Prayer of the Bone was not included in the DVD, copyright? And could you get it somehow, or would you have to have an American DVD-player?
Series 5 and still going strong July 12, 2008 Mr. D. New (Blackpool, United Kingdom) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This two disk set contains all four episodes of the fifth series of Wire In The Blood. The episodes in this series are The Colour Of Amber, Nocebo, The Name Of Angels and Anything You Can Do. Robson Green returns as Dr Tony Hill a psychologist and Simone Lahbib is back as D. I. Alex Fielding for her second series. Green and Lahbib have an excellent on screen chemistry which has developed from series four. The episodes are up to the usual high standard which we have come to expect and do contain some scenes of graphic violence. There are also interviews with cast and crew which are quite interesting. In fact my only gripe is that there are no chapter stops on the episodes which means you have to fast forward to a particular scene - this was an annoying overlook in the series four dvd and should have been rectified. However, this is only a minor gripe and should not put you off buying this excellent dvd.
State of the Art Television July 10, 2008 JF Rodriguez (London UK) 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is not a review for season five only but also for all four previous seasons as well as season six currently being shown on television. The show tells the story of a crime detective unit based in a fictional city in northern England. Together with the help of a brilliant but dysfunctional clinical psychologist (played to perfection by Robson Green), they try to solve the most grisly and disturbing murder cases. Each episode lasts 90 minutes so this gives more room for character and story development. It's also more brutal, intense and violent than most television shows so not for the squeamish. This is state of the art finely crafted crime drama featuring strong scripts and three dimensional characters you really care for. The acting by all involved is truly superb and the writing is top notch. It's riveting, captivating, engrossing, gripping and powerful stuff with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing right until the last minute. This will have you glued on your sofa and make you shiver. Turn off the lights, sit comfortably and enjoy!
