Classic August 2, 2007 Mr. P. J. Linkin 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This film is a classic, ignore what the people on here are saying and just buy it. You WILL like it, i guarantee that. 3 stars is a scandalous score for this film
Tiresome May 7, 2007 Jay (Mauritius) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Steven Spielberg's misconceived panto is a glutinous mixture of tiresome platitudes, phony visual effects and tacky plastic sets. The concept - that Peter Pan has grown up and is now a lawyer who needs to reconnect with his inner child in order to save his kids from the clutches of Captain Hook - might have seemed like a good idea to the writers, but even so they didn't find a way of making it work. Robin Williams is worth watching as the adult Peter and Dustin Hoffman's having fun as Hook, and between them they just about make this clag watchable. Julia Roberts, meanwhile, embarrasses herself as Tinkerbell. A film like this needs to be magical and charming, not a clumsy and overbearing
Truly Magical April 10, 2007 R. Chris 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
A truly magical journey. "When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies." Upon its initial release, critics panned Hook severely even though it was a considerble success at the Box Office. Now, sixteen-years after its release, it has become one of the true classics, adored and worshipped by people the world over. Hook is an un-official sequel to the classic Peter Pan tale, and it manages to keep the entire concept lifted with its blinding visuals and endearing music score. I don't see a need to summarize the story, as you probably know it by heart now. Hook is such an incredibly lively movie, and like I said earlier, it is adored by legions of fans all around the globe; it's hard to put into words, it must be experienced to be fully comprehended. Adults, children and everyone in between. "At night when I'm alone I lie awake and wonder: Which of them belongs to me? Which one I wonder?" A truly magical journey.
