Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Perfect - easy operation, easy setup and good quality.   July 2, 2008
Mr. Cd Hughes (Worcestershire, UK)
Having had a couple of wired cycle computers in the past, I decided it was time to upgrade when I recently bought a new bike. I was a little cautious about buying a wireless computer after reading several reviews of other brands, however decided that a Cateye one would be best due to my past experience of them and the other positive reviews on Amazon. I wanted a computer that was easy to setup, had no wires to tie all over the bike and was easy to use and understand.
Despite my earlier scepticism, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED one bit with the Cateye computer. Costing only 20 delivered on Amazon via WIGGLE(now gone up to 25 since mine was delivered), it was the simplest of things to fix to the bike, looks much more expensive than it was and is extremely easy to use. No buttons to have to keep pressing to start and stop it, you simply start peddling and it works without fault. It gives a very accurate speed reading, shows the time, ODO, journey distance & maximum speed. There is a simple one button operation once set up, which also serves to reset each reading by holding the button for about 5 seconds.
The setup instructions were designed to be as simple as possible, however in doing so I think they've made it a little more complicated than it needs to be (I likened it to instructions for buiding an MFI cabinet - over complex for something so simple). Other than that, not a single complaint with it. I was also impressed with the fixing brackets. Although they use the current method of strapping the computer and transmitter on using zip ties, I found that in addition to the included rubber mounts they make for a secure fitting.

Well done with this one Cateye.

5 out of 5 stars Neat package, well made & cheap!   June 26, 2008
C. Sellings (London, UK)
I've had a few Cateye products in the past, notably a rear flashing LED bike light. This lasted 10 years or more with no major faults and when I did finally replace it the new version was made even better!

The Cateye wireless computer is easy to set up, a breeze to use and can be set up to 2 different tire settings. For example if you commute with slicks but like to change over to offroad tires at the weekend this will accomodate you. It also has a handy little light when cycling in the dark.

The only downside is that if you intend to use this on 2 different bikes, the extra wireless kit you'll have to buy costs as much as a new computer!

All in all a great bit of kit though.

3 out of 5 stars Are Cateye cutting back on the manufacturing costs?   June 10, 2008

I bought this bike computer when it cost approximately 35, and was initially disappointed that Cateye seemed to be cutting back on the manufacturing costs by using cable-ties rather than the nice handlebar mount that my previous Cateye came with. I was disappointed for a second time when I had to change the battery and discovered that this reset my odometer. This annoyed me immensely because my previous Cateye was intelligent enough to remember how many miles I had cycled. If I had known that this was going to be reset then I would have taken a note of my miles. This Cateye has a few functions that I never use, and it took some getting used to the fact that the clock stops when you stop cycling. This ensures that your average speed is accurate but it doesn't tell you how long you've been out for. I suppose I could take a watch with me on my rides. I haven't got used to the backlight button on the underside of the computer - and keep hitting the menu button instead. All in all - it gets 3 out of 5 because it resets the odometer when you change the battery and because the handlebar mount seems so cheap. It is still a pretty good computer and I probably would buy it at its current price of 25 (but after comparing what else is out on the market).

4 out of 5 stars good computer but little fiddley   March 15, 2008

this is a really good computer, so far i have managed to go 26.4 mph which is really fun to no and helps to set targets, but setting it up can be a little fiddley as you need to use ties to keep the reciever in place which i foudn quite difficult, took me 20mins to fit. once fitted though really good i would recommend... could do with a light though
