Rubbish May 26, 2008 Dan Swan (Gateshead, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Whatever you do - don't buy this cycle computer. I have 2 of these units since they were listed on my Amazon gift list at a price I thought people would be good for something like this, apparently it was attractive enough for 2 people to buy. OK the issues: 1) Instructions are awful. Too small to read. Diagrams unclear. Instructions in the wrong order. No mention of what to do do with some of the parts included. 2) The distance between the magnet and the sensor is crucial. So crucial that no matter how I align the spoke based magnet, and the sensor on my forks (this is an MTB not a road bike), there is *no way* to situate the two close enough for them to work together. 3) The transmit distance of the sensor is *so poor* that even if I was able to get it working, there's no way the sensor would be able to transmit the signal to the handlebar based computer. 4) One of the sensors shipped with loose pieces of solder rattling inside. Well done these other reviewers who managed to fit theirs before realising they were rubbish. I didn't even get that far with either unit I had.
You get what you pay for March 18, 2008 John Harding (Peak District, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This unit is at the rock bottom end of the market and it's quality/performance reflects that. I bought it as a "cheap" 2nd computer to use on my MTB which I don't ride as much as my road bike. The first unit that arrived didn't work at all. The second unit does work but... 1. Setup is very fiddly: 1.1 The thread in the spoke magnet was badly machined and I had to take a file to it get even a semblance of a firm fix - it still moves. 1.2 Likewise the fork sensor. The cable ties provided were no use. I've used bigger ones to keep it on. Elastic/rubber ties provided with more expensive units work better as they account for fork taper. The "recess" in the senor that butts against the fork is simply not deep enough for a positive, firm fit. 1.3 It's not at all tolerant of any distance between magnet and sensor and movement of either when riding causes readings to stop. 2. The buttons on the unit are imprecise and unresponsive. Overall I haven't saved money buying this because I'll wind up buying one around the ~ 30 bracket. Cheap perhaps. Cheerful? Not my experience.
Disappointed October 31, 2007 M. Dowse (Dublin, Ireland) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Although this cycle computer was frustrating to set up and its buttons were unresponsive, for the first few weeks I still thought it good value for money. Unfortunately, I then found that occasionally it would record completely wrong speeds or stop working entirely (and have to be reset).
Not Impressed October 27, 2007 The Real Hotspurkid (Bucks, England) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I must say this did not meet my expectations. To start with the instructions are printed in many languages and so tiny I found it difficult to read and the diagrams were useless. On first set up it didn't work and took lots of adjustment to get right. I did get it working eventually but found the "Mode" button to have poor response (sticks) and it will be difficult to use whilst riding. I wish I had bought a better one but as the old saying suggests. You get what you pay for. Not recommended.
