The contemporary, sleek design of this unit suits your home or office. Future upgrades to firmware can be obtained via the Internet. The DG834G gives you instant connectivity with or without wires, and works with your existing 802.11b devices as well as your new 54 Mbps 802.11g devices. A built-in ADSL modem furnishes direct, always-on Internet connectivity and multi-user access sharing at speeds up to 140 times faster than dial-up. This powerful router distributes MP3s, digital movies and photos with ultra-fast 10/100 switched LAN ports capable of speeds of 200 Mbps, and shares a single IP address with up to 253 users. And, it boasts double the memory and a 50% faster CPU than many popular routers.

Easy setup... working fine with Apple Mac and Nintendo Wii April 29, 2008 Mr. A. P. Broomfield (Notts, UK) I have only just received this product but so far I am extremely happy!! I am an Apple Mac user so I could not use the easy setup Wizard but you would not have guessed, I was connected within 20 minutes and had no problems connecting my Wii... now all I need is Mario Kart and Pro Evo!!!

I've had one of these set up for about 18 months now. 80% of the time it's brilliant but has odd periods of not transmitting any wi-fi signal. Sometimes these 'off periods' can last for hours, sometimes just minutes. There can be a fortnight without interruption or it can give problems several consecutive days. BT are sure the problem is with the router and not the line. We have three laptops at home all of whom are affected by the fault simultaneously so it does seem the router is to blame. I've taken it in to the store but of course it worked perfectly when they checked it. Am prepared to buy another one but hesitant now at buying this model.Interested to hear if anyone else has had similar problems or is my experience just a one-off ?

Ideal buy April 6, 2008 Grant (Yorkshire, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Up until I bought this I'd had no end of problems with a Belkin unit and my last Belkin unit was just one in a line of rubbish products. I was told to switch to netgear because they are more reliable. Not only is this unit more reliable but it was so easy to get going...connected in less than 2 min and now with both a vista & xp pc connected plus an xbox360 in continual online gaming mode. The Xbox connects wirelessly (4 bars) from the loft bedroon and the Netgear unit is on the ground floor. It stays connected all of the time and doesn't disconnect periodically as did the other products and at long last the NAT setting for the Xbox is now open and not moderate or strict...horay! Finally the netgear unit makes it so much easier to back up my files from one pc to another and the back up traffic (pc to pc) has no noticable effect on the speed or performance of the external internet traffic.
AVOID April 5, 2008 Mr. Andrew Baker 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this unit to replace the 100% reliable phone cable that runs up my stairs. I spent 3 hours pratting about with it and an Edimax wireless usb card. The wireless light worked on the modem at first but I never saw it again. Impossible to log on to the internet. Instructions and help are obviously written by asberger types with large thick glasses. Will now stick to extension lead technology buried under the new carper. ( 1.53 for 10 meters and should never fail). Admittedly no good for wireless laptops but I run a desktop.
