Not that great September 6, 2008 Zukovsky (Edinburgh, Scotland) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
These speakers are only marginaly better than the usual 20 variety. They are not even worth the reduced price of 50. Sound quality is reasonable and balanced at low volumes but turn up the volume and the bass response is completely overpowered by the mid-range, making for a decidedly rubbish sound. Another thing is the stupid high powered blue LED power light which is constantly in your face. What were the designers thinking ? I have reduced the brightness of mine by painting it out with correction fluid. My advice, if you're looking good sounding speakers for playing music on your pc, look elsewhere.
NOT AS GOOD AS YOU MAY THINK ! Read On... September 4, 2008 C. Charalambous (Canterbury, U.K.) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have bought the Creative GigaWorks T20 to replace a modest pair of Altec Lancing since I am used to editing sound on proper monitors and I wanted a more capable pair of speakers to hear music on my laptop. What a disapointment... All that's wrong with these pair of speakers can be summed up by saying: 'They overestimated their ability to handle bass' This is responsible for the worst possible choise of crossover frequency which leads to blurry bassline, harsh high frequencies and distorted mids. There is no way around this because the HI/LO controls are practically rendered unusable, turning down the LO freq starts removing Bass body without fixing the mid-lo territory, and the HI control cannot get rid of the harshness present on the Trebles. Trying to create the lacking Mid frequencies is impossible as well. What this means is that listening to any properly mixed acoustically demanding contemporary music is exhausting and unsatisfiying... Forget listening to Depeche Mode, Tom Waits, Portishead, Tindersticks, Radiohead and the like! The speakers are just inadequate to handle their music. Only thing that sounds acceptable on these speakers is oldies, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and the like because of the limited frequency range of the old recordings, as well as recorder TV programs that you view on your PC. What I have to admit is that the built quality is fine and the speakers provide good connectivity for a second source like an MP3 player. But what is more importand is that the listening experience NEVER becomes complete and satisfying. I feel that the T20's DO NOT in any case deserve the raving reviews they get, so please try to hear them before buying!
Good but not that good September 1, 2008 M. A. Gould (uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was really looking forward to trying out these speakers as I had read some really good reviews about them, So I decided to borrow some to see what they were like. I really liked the design and how sturdy they felt, the mid range sound and upper levels are crisp with good sound definition, but the bass was just awful. The speaker cabinet is plastic which is exactly how it sounded, it overpowers the good bits and just ruins what is a well designed sound system. I suppose I am just being over critical but the best way I can decribe it is that they are just good pc speakers and nothing more, but to be fair that is what they are.... pc speakers. My advice is get a good 2:1 system with separate sub woofer.
Beautiful September 1, 2008 A. Paul (Nottingham) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
To keep it breif, I decided to buy some better quality 2.0 speakers over some low end 5.1 ones to go with the new sound card for my laptop. -Not disapointed in the slightest! Paid under 40 not including p+p and the clarity of these slaughters my stereo! Worth every penny!
Best PC speakers August 18, 2008 Mr. John H. Shaw (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Had these for over a year. With the bass control set around a quarter to and the treble set around 12 o'clock and a small piece of Blu-tack over the very bright power light these speakers are superb! They are much better than any other PC speakers I have heard. Several friends have bought sets after hearing them and no-one has been disappointed.
