How good is the product... June 28, 2008 Mr. W. C. CUTLER (Exeter, UK) I've had the hard drive for about 2 hours, and so far it has been amazing. I literally plugged it into my computer and it recognised it straight away and now I'm backing up all of my data. Can't fault it! Plus, for the price it was, I'd say it's a real bargin.
Steer clear! June 23, 2008 S. Crockett 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm on my third one of these. All three have failed for the same reason. I'm still waiting for Western Digital to talk to me after my complaint over three weeks ago. Sure if it breaks and you pay to package and send it back they'll send you another (reburbed from one that someone else sent back!) Then that will break and so the cycle goes on - Royal Mail make a packet and you cry. Well that's my personal experience anyway
You want cheap and nasty? Buy it! June 11, 2008 Mr. A. (The South) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
So slow it makes my blood boil! No external power switch so you have to unplug the thing to turn it off! If you have precious files I would buy something more robust. Your desktop will probably take about 15 minutes to register this as an external drive. I've tried it on both Windows machines and my Mac and it is insanely slow. I have also tried it on incredibly fast processing PC machines at my work (way beyond the normal home speeds as these are hand built) and it still takes the same beard / pipe / slipper inducing time. It then fails when you have to transfer something as simple as a JPG. Want some advice? Pay a little bit more and get an whole lot more. I will never buy an Western Digital product again and I work in the computer industry.

WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE OF THESE!! April 30, 2008 J. Gibson (Liverpool, UK) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this hard drive in August 2007. It is now April 2008. I stored music, photos, videos, Word documents on it. Up till now it has worked fine. I tried opening the file my photo's were stored in on the hard drive and it wouldn't open, after finally opening there was nothing in there. I have lost over 20gb worth of irrecoverable and irreplaceable photos. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE HARD DRIVES AS A PERMANENT METHOD OF STORING YOUR VALUABLE MEDIA.
