Worth the purchase October 15, 2008 GM TWENA (Milton Keynes) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this item to use between laptops & my Netgear media player. I have to say for the money its great, No external power needed, fast transfer (a file of 700MB took around 40 secs) this is faster than 2 of my 500GB powered drives. The case feels robust enough for daily use and moving around, set-up took seconds with Vista, just plug & go. Great product.
Tow years of these September 26, 2008 Mr. E. J. Clarke (London) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've used these Freecom drives for a couple of years: I keep audio files and image files that I need regular access to on them to free space on the laptop. They've travelled everywhere with me - in my day-to-day bag, in suitcases on flights, dragged around Europe on flights and around the UK on trains. So far, they're bullet-proof. The USB power is a great advantage, the metal shell is tough, and well, they just work. I would recommend buying some kind of case for them though, if only to have somewhere to keep the mini-USB cable with them.
Brilliant piece of kit! September 18, 2008 F. Abraham (London) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this to use as external storage on my mac book, as with all my photos and music it was getting a little slow. What can I say? Brilliant! Took it out of it's box (it is small and neat) plugged the usb cable in and off I went. No installation, nothing. SO SIMPLE TO USE (and I'm a girl..!) Can't recommend it highly enough. Fab.
Freecom Mobile Drive 250GB USB-2 (2.5") Review September 14, 2008 A. HARDING (London) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this product recently and it's great! Very well built with metal casing and it looks neat and tidy alongside my other equipment. It also works very well with my Apple Mac (Leopard) and with other devices such as game consoles and windows pcs. I am very pleased with this product - great value. My only problem is that it could have been made with say plastic or rubber, instead of metal (in case it's dropped) but I guess there's the tough drive for that! I'm looking to buy a case for it in the future! Great product!
So far .... great August 29, 2008 S. E. Parnell (Norwich, Norfolk United Kingdom) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this little drive to save me taking my laptop to my Portuguese office which runs MAC computers (my laptop windows XP). If it works (I havn't been able to try it yet) I will be able to take all my relavant files via this small hard drive. To do this I have left the drive formatted as FAT32 as MAC will not write to NTFS. The drive arrived as always from Amazon really quickly and worked straight from the box. It takes longer to write to this hard drive than my FREEAGENT (NTFS) hard drive. I'm not sure if this is because it is formatted as FAT32. Anyway if I can use it to migrate between PC and MAC environments then I can live with the slower speed. I will update this review later if it works with the MAC. Update: Partial success accessing the data on Mac OS x. The latest desk top Mac (10.4) worked fine reading and writing however the older laptop (10.3) didn't recognise the drive. Don't know why? Still the partial success works for me. If your not using this drive to be accessed via Mac and PC I would definitely re-format NTFS (for the PC).
