WOW May 12, 2008 Daniel Camm (Stroud, Glous, UK) Worked as desribed; plug and play with instant access to store files. Runs just as quickly as a USB memory stick. It's practically silent but there is vibration and heat generated after excessive use. I particularly like the rubber padding on the ends of the device as this raises the actual drive off of my desk which is usually covered in some sort of rubbish. The small blue light is also groovy. The silver casing is quite attractive (the picture displayed makes the device look white. I'm unsure if the colours vairy but mine was silver) The USB cable is short, about half the length of your average camera cable. I dont know if its just my USB ports on my laptop but the cable does move around alot when connected causing a possible disconection of the device. I havnt experianced the connection problem that some others have said about. I have XP and as long as you keep the 'Elements' window open there shouldnt be a problem. Overall a great product! Definatly consider this!
Fantastic! May 7, 2008 Pete V (UK) This arrived VERY quickly and ,even for an idiot like me, it was SO easy to use. I did have a hiccup installing it (as I went to make a cup of tea and came back to a black screen). I just began again, and whatever had happened resolved itself (vista is good at this)and the installation finished off installing itself. I tested it by doing a backup and everything works fine. I just wish everything to do with computers was so easy! I'm a wrinkly, so I don't find this sort of thing too easy normally. BUY THIS and you won't be sorry.
very good~~ love it April 16, 2008 Haniza Hamzah (uk) after considering space vs price vs brand vs reviews/ratings vs looks/dimension vs weight, i ending up buying this. i know anyone would've considered these factors too and i highly recommend this particular hard drive. have been using it for about a month now. first time it arrived, it was literally plug and play. no hassle at all. very light and the surface wouldnt be easily scratched (a bonus feature which i never considered before). makes no sound at all and doesnt get hot even after been plugged for hours.. worth the money (which isnt that pricey after all)!
Fantastic ! April 16, 2008 Keat (Halifax, UK) Just plug in to USB and off you go! Does the same job as a memory stick!
As simple and effective as a memory stick April 11, 2008 M. Harrison (London, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This does just what it claims - or at least it did with my MacBook Pro. Plug it into the USB port (which also powers it, so no mains lead); open your application (in my case I got this for editing on iMovie) and select this drive as the location for the project, and off you go. Some external drives have a second USB or firewire input, and so when loading video you can import direct from the camera to the drive, using the computer to monitor the import. This portable hard drive has only one input, so you put your camera lead to the computer - but it still goes through into the portable hard drive. It does mean you need two USB inputs on your computer. Terrific value for money; amazingly compact and light; and works a treat. Highly recommended.
