Looking forward to this so much April 23, 2008 A. McQuarrie As someone who has played many MMORPGs from the first one from Sierra "The Realm Online" right up to Lord of the Rings Online and a current player of World of Warcraft the Burning Crusade "Tier 5 Holy Priest", i can honestly say that looking forward to this expansion keeps me awake at nights
people shouldnt be allowed to review games before they or a demo/beta comes out April 16, 2008 Mr. Finlay A. Killoh (dufftown scotland) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
this annoys me when i go onto a page to pre order or look at a game that hasnt been released just to find someone on it who has bad mouthed the it already before playing because they didnt like the last one or because they dont like other games like it i say to you people : shut up simply that you know nothing about how much fun it is or how it plays yet its so infuriating and it goes the same for those who give good reviews of it there just as bad personally i dont think amazon should allow people to make reviews before release dates as they are based on nothing at all apart from the persons made up opinions.
Preorder delivery dates? March 16, 2008 Mr. A. Stevens (England) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
So i preordered this, with First Class being shown as 2-3 days and another note that its being dispatched by Amazon's Jersey merchant which hints at delaying the delivery even more doesn't it? Is there any guarantee we'll get this on the day of release?
Not anymore addictive than any other hobby March 4, 2008 A. Halligan (Ireland) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Ive been playing WoW ever since it came out and at first I found it great fun and incredibly appealing as it was my first MMO. If you buy this game you are most likely going to invest huge amounts of time into it but frankly I dont see how it is any different from watching TV or reading a book. Once the novelty of playing with so many different players and the fun of the storyline and combat system(which is its biggest weakness)fades you will find the game becomes merely an exercise in collecting new gear to make your character better. Yes this is addictive but no more so than modifying your car, collecting minitures, or comic books or whatever else you might as a hobby. As for ruining lives its my opinion that this is complete rubbish and if you do let it take over your life your probably not exactly the most ambitious or successful person at anyrate. This game can be bad for you but only if you let it.
Have will power and all will be fine March 2, 2008 Scritty (UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
WoW is a fine game, but it IS finite. I played the original for 6 months and got 1 character to 60 with elite gear, and got bored on my second char when it got to 40 odd. Waited for a few months after Burning Crusade came out to get it (so it was cheaper and bugs had been ironed out - sadly missed a few expoits as well, but what-the-hey) Played it, got a character (new) to 70 inside 4 months of casual play, now raid at weekends, farm a bit during the week...and that's it. Epic gear and the best buffs..well, that and as much gold as you need, It's all "doable" inside a year for even a casual player (12 hours a week)...3-4 months for a commited player (40+ hours a week)Records stand at under 200 gaming hours to get from 1 to 70, so the real hardcore players will do it in 6 weeks max (If you pay some poor sod in the far east to do it for you it is done inside a month, but why buy a game and pay someone else to play it for you...now that IS madness) Then, other than repeat the process with new chars (and I know some people have half a dozen 70's...but really not that many) that's basically "end game".... It's a lot cheaper, less addictive and healthier than beer and ciggies..and is akin to watching telly 4 hours a night (which many many many people do without batting an eyelid - and then go and drink and smoke on the nights they don't watch telly...i know - I used to be one of them) If you can't handle that, then the problem is WITH YOU. I have sympathy for people with addictive personalities, but no sympathy for those who blame their compulsion on the focus of it...deal with it and quit whining. And isn't it funny how many here and on Youtube mention how much "nicer" some of the competition in the MMORPG genre are, and amazingly how these other games, despite being very very similar aren't "gaming crack" ..Everquest fanboys methinks. More people pay monthly for WoW in Europe than own Xbox 360's..that's how big it is. Blizzard turns over nearly $3,500,000,000 (3 billion 5 hundred million US dollars) per annum in subscriptions , so jealousy is going to play a pretty big part in criticism isn't it. Me, after i've put the kids to bed (i'm 40) and watched the cricket (ODI hi-lightsNew Zealand v England)i'm off to turn some Dark iron ore into bars, and we all know what a long job that is. A nice rounded evening. Lovely.
