This item is HIGH QUALITY despite peoples doubts July 1, 2008 J. Chapman (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all, I'd like to mention that I've owned by Cruzer Micro for about 2 years - I only have the 2GB version but thought I'd review on here seeing as this is an awesome price for a high quality memory stick. Ever since getting this bit of kit its worked a treat, despite being plastic, its VERY durable. By being plastic, its also VERY light, I've many times thought I may have lost it, as its so small and light in my pocket! Not sure if thats a good thing! Also, the USB slider feature is very good - one would think that the slider may get a bit flimsy and loose after much use, but this is not the case, its still as tightly locked and good to use as the first day I got it. And beleive me, I got this about half way through my college course and it got very vigorous and rough use - being slapped in and out of many machines - and it has never been a problem. It has always been attached to my key ring along with many other keys and the small metal key ring attached to the stick is still in one peice - I think because it is metal, and so small - it is actually stronger than it looks. When the USB section is snugly tucked away, it is still exposed to air, but its concealed enough to be safe, and what harm is a little dust going to do, I've NEVER once had to blow dust out of the end of mine and it still works first time every time. One thing I'd also like to mention is that someone mentioned if you google "sandisk cruzer doesn't work" then you get lots of hits... most of these hits are about problems with the U3 technology and on various models of memory stick. I never really used the U3 features so can't comment on that. Hope this helps. 5/5 for sure.
A bit cheap looking - but seems to be a good product June 2, 2008 Jeff C (Newcastle - UK) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Initial thoughts were it looks and feels cheap and tacky. The 3rd memory stick i've bought from various manufacturers and definetly the cheapest feeling product. The retractable USB connector, leaves the pins free to gather dust in your pocket, so will try to avoid leaving it my pocket too long. Removed the keyring adaptor straight away as it looks like it would break as soon as look at it. On the positive side of things transfer of files seems very quick and the price for a known make 8gig memory stick is excellent. Not had much experience with the U3 but seems to be a useful addiion. Hope in the long term it survives a life in my pocket....time will tell.
It takes all kinds... May 20, 2008 PMG (United Kingdom) 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
My comments are directed toward the negative reviewers of this product. I have had the 4Gig version since it first came onto the market, - absolutely perfect!! - never let me down!! - totally brilliant!!! - mind you, I have not tried stirring my tea with it, or dropping it from the top floor of the Empire State building, testing it at the bottom of the Atlantic, or using it to wedge my patio doors open - I think for that kind of usage, I should order the Sandisk armour plated, water proof, neuclear explosion proof version, which should retail for around 4500 pounds!!
It's OK but not recomended May 11, 2008 Mr. Nasir Ahmed (Coventry - UK) 10 out of 15 found this review helpful
I only bought this USB because it was available in 8GB at this price. From its image it looks good enough to buy but in reality, it's made of cheap plastic, seems very fragile and only God what will happen if you accidently drop it on a concrete surface. The reliability of this storage device is not good at all. When I plugged it in to my laptop for the first time, it already had some software which I did not like so I deleted them. Stored some files, updated few files and complied a new file. When I tried to re-open these files, all newly compiled and re-saved files very corrupted. Despite my all efforts could not recover them at all. Effectively, I have wasted my money and so much time compiling these new file which this new stupid device not save. Will not recommend this item to anyone.
Brilliant May 6, 2008 D. Dresser (UK) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have had both the 4Gb and more recently the 8Gb version of this drive. The U3 some people find gimmicky, but it is easily removed and the device will function like a traditional USB stick. Personally, I like the U3 functionality. I use many desktop and laptop devices and to be able to have your own virtual desktop for me is very advantageous. U3 works with both Vista and XP OSes- earlier versions didn't, so rest assured it is ready to use out of the box. I have had mine now for over 2 months and use it extensively every day. Highly recommended.
