V Good for the price April 3, 2008 Cornelius Owen 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hi I would have given this 5* had the instructions been better. Very pleased with the quality, the colours are vibrant. For me it is a little too bright. Can anyone guide me step by step in how to reduce the brightness, thank you in advance. When choosing the recommended 1680x1050 resolution which my computer supports, everything is reduced significantly down in size, so guess I'm doing something wrong. Not very computer literate. Con
Brilliant - Literally! March 26, 2008 Mr. D. W. Griffiths 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Does what it says on the tin, works direct out of the box. Brilliant whites although I wonder what you have to do if the backlight needs replacing. Unlike my old Triniton so called 19ins CRT every line is dead straight. No distortion whatsoever. I have weak eyesight and the dull CRT was getting to be more and more of a strain. After owning the Sony flatscreen for over 5 years, on a whim, I checked the screen size - diagonally - and discovered the actual screen was 18ins, beware "nominal" 19ins. The ACER on the otherhand uses every pixel of screen space. I haven't changed a single setting while I used to spend a lot of time trying to get the bendy lines straight. Make sure you get the "CRYSTALBRITE!" Ace for games as well as text.
Superb monitor March 7, 2008 ACT (Gloucestershire UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having read all the reviews on Amazon I decided to go for it and have not been disappointed. Plugged it in and away it went. Great picture and really neat looking unit.
Is this monitor THAT GOOD???......... January 30, 2008 Mr. G. D. Kelly (Bristol, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Simple answer is YES indeed it is. I received this monitor hoping that it was as good as i hoped it would be. As soon as it came out of the box (not even connected!!) i was blown away. I had a HP 19" and a Samsung 19", and they are really good top end monitors........BUT Acer have worked wonders with this monitor. The WHOLE monitor (including the screen surface, but not the base) is finished in jet black gloss. When off, it looks like a TV!! When on, the image is sharp and the contrast and colours are awesome when compared against standard 1000:1 monitors! I would go as far to say that the glossy screen improves the image further still!! Have you ever compared a Matt photo to a glossy one? Well if not and you have the chance, do so, and you will see what i'm getting at. There are very few monitors that have the glossy finish all over, and I do not understand why not? In Adobe Lightroom, when you dim the background so that you can only see the photo, the black borders are sooo black that it looks as if that portion of the monitor is switched off! In fact, that goes for all blacks. Whether in a movie or on websites blacks are as black as the bezel.....JET BLACK In movie mode, the refresh rate copes fine, and the contrast ratio really shines. It looks really punchy and colours are extremely well reproduced. Haven't tried games yet, but I have no doubt it performs as good as a Samsung! Unless you are a die hard DVI freak, don't worry about the lack of the connection, VGA is fine! The stand is liken to an LCD TV stand, very low! But it can me mounted using VESA standard mounts! Get one.
Great Monitoyr January 29, 2008 D. Blondel 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I could not recommend this enough. The pictures on the amazon site don't do it justice. You need to see it in person to understand how good it is. The lack of DVI ports doesn't seem to be an issue. I have a fairly high end card with VGA and DVI ports and connected up to the VGA the picture is flawless.
