4 out of 5 stars Great for the price, but make sure you fit the right buds !   July 7, 2008

Listen folks, I have 2 pairs of these and they are without doubt the best sounding low-mid priced headphones I've personally ever had.
What you have to do though, to get the best possible sound, is to make absolutely sure you have the right size buds fitted. They come with 3 sizes, I'm an average sized bloke but I needed the large buds. If you don't test for the right size, you will end up wondering why lots of people rave about these cans.
How to test ?
What you need to do is fit each set of buds, play some bassy music, then push the headphones gently into your ear until they sit snugly, then gently push them til as far as they can go. If you notice an increase in bass while you've pushed them further than they would normally sit in the ear, then the buds you've chosen are the wrong size. You'll know you have the right size bud when you hear no (or very little) appreciable difference in bass while performing this test.
Like I said, I'm not a big guy so I started out with the small buds, which left me thinking "where the hell's the bass?" Same happened with the medium buds. It's only when I got to the large buds that I realised this is the whole point as to why Sony include 3 bud sizes.
Listen, the bass isn't the deepest bass you're gonna find, but it's certainly very good. What makes these cans good is their overall sound quality.
Sure they're a bit flimsy, but hey, I've had mine for 2 years now and haven't had a problem. It's how you treat them that matters.
Hope this helps !

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant   June 23, 2008

I got these earphones for my birthday 3 years ago and they have only now started going in 1 ear. Sound quality is great, only problem is i do go to they gym and the wee connection bit does pull the earphones out.

They are very comfy as there are rubber bits supplied to cushion in the ear. Would buy them again if it wasnt for the running.

2 out of 5 stars Like full range? Forget these!   May 22, 2008

Well I did it. I read the mediocre reviews, I read the great reviews and I paid my money and took my chance. Now first off, these are pretty cheap so i didn't have high expectations to start. They arrived today and after reading about how to best put them in your ears (the 2 handed job), I've tried them out with the three sizes of insert. To be honest, they're not comfortable, but they're not the worst either. The plus point of this type of earphone is that they go in the ear canal and dampen external sound. The downside of that is that you can really hear yourself breath over the music. And no, I don't have asthema.

On to the sound, it's clear! However, I've just A/B'd them against the latest gen ipod headphones (manufactured by Foster Corp of Japan for less than a dollar) and the bass extension on the ipod headphones beats the sony's by a mile. These really do lack any bass, even if you shove them down your ear canal.

In short, if I could change them and get my money back, I would. These aren't good, but they aren't uncomfortable either (nor are they comfortable, just tolerable). If they suit you, great, but for now, my search for a good alternative to ipod headphones continues.

2 out of 5 stars Good looks and sound but breaks easily?   February 19, 2008

Yes. It breaks easily. Very disappointing. Now if you're retarded enough to buy it, save up a 1 a day from the moment you receive your item and look out for a new one. You'd be back to amazon in no time.

2 out of 5 stars poor build quality   February 15, 2008

ihave used various different sets of headphones for listening to different devices. These have been the best for sound quality, but worst for user frendliness and build quality. I bought my first set around a year ago, a month after buying them, the rubber earpiece ripped, forcing me to use a different size. This then would not stay in my ear as it was the left one and any movement of the cord dislodged the headphone. after two months of putting up with this annoyance, the left earpiece stopped producing sound. amazon kindly replaced them under warranty and the second set appeared to be fine. That is until a couple of months ago, when the left earpiece fell out, unless you were sitting and there was no weight on it. and now it has broken like the last set. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AS IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!
