first time buying a camcorder August 23, 2008 Mrs. Lillian A. King (Surrey) I am pleased with the cam corder, I am a photographer and thought that I should give this a try! I do like it, BUT am very disapointed that you cannot get the same battery that you have given with camera!!! I agree with other reviews, about battery and now wish I had stuck to Cannon brand.
No replacement Battery July 16, 2008 Jckelly (Shropshire England) 16 out of 19 found this review helpful
I bought this camera because I suspected my old camera of having a slow throughput of the digital tape giving jerky panning. I thought no tape would eliminate a lot of faults. It did to some degree. But my main gripe is the battery! I cant obtain a replacement sony NP-FH40 I have trawled the net and been back to the shop I purchased from. All I can get is a large battery that sticks out from the back of the camera and has a small lead that is inserted into the DVin socket. You no longer get battery information while the camera is inserted, so you dont know if it is nearly discharged. This is not good enough. If your thinking of buying...dont! Look first for a reserve battery you wont find the same as fitted to the camera when you purchased. I wish I had done more research, I would not have bought this.
WORST CAMCODER July 15, 2008 cool sat 7 out of 18 found this review helpful
I bought this camcoder and totally disappointed . Its Shame to Sony Brand. I recommend not to buy this camcoder. Sony should withdraw this product from market Video Quality/Picture qualiy is very very very poor Video/picture Colors - very very very poor. if i shoot movie in the bright place also, the image looks very very black and dark ,not true colors. The worst camcoder i have seen my life.
Rubbish June 27, 2008 Dan (UK) 7 out of 15 found this review helpful
This camera doesnt save viewable thumbnails when files are transferred to a computer using windows explorer. I bought the camera a month ago and raised a query with Sony support line. They took a month to reply so I guess I will now have trouble returning this now and have wasted 200 on a substandard piece of kit
Top camera for Top price May 16, 2008 Mr. A. raza (Rochdale, England) 57 out of 58 found this review helpful
I purchased this camera a few weeks ago, Its very easy to use, it also has a switch for nightshot mode which allows one to capture whats going on in the dark. The 800,000 pixel resolution is equivelent to the quality of standard dv cameras. Which is pretty good. If you don't want to spend too much on a camera this is the one you should go for. Another feature i like is that you can drag and drop the mpeg movie files from the camera to your pc, the camera registers as an external hard drive, videos are vieable as thumbnails in Vista, however i can't view them in XP. Ive given top marks because of ease of use, quality and price.
