These sound amazing... April 21, 2008 Inquisitive Sid (London, England) These sound absolutely amazing, especially for the price. Sound quality is incredible, with lively, rounded and punchy bass, and detailed treble. They're much more efficient/loud than the in-ear buds too, but are virtually silent to those around you. I replaced the standard buds that came with my PDA for some Sennheiser in-ear buds, which were a great improvement, but then wanted something better for long train journeys/flights. I researched noise-cancelling (NC) systems and listened to several up to c. 150, but decided that the benefits were negligible, compared to buying decent headphones with good insulation/isolation. I understand that these are identical to the AKG416P which gets mixed reviews. The only downside is that they're slightly fiddly to fold back into their bag, which is tight and doesn't really protect them from damage. Unfortunately, my first pair was stolen after only a month, so I have just bought a replacement pair without hesitation. They're that good! Edit: Strangely, the second pair are not quite so good, so there is obviously some variability. Still pretty good though.
Postage a joke November 19, 2007 M. Ansell 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
I find it really annoying when I have to go to the last page of the checkoput to find an EXCESSIVE postage cost from Planet Gizmo. Almost like they are trying to trick you with a low advertised price!
Update: not very robust, Excellent sound and isolation.. (This is the same as AKG 416 P) August 6, 2007 B. Girija Ravindranath 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Update: As some other reviewers have pointed out, this headphonse is not sturdy at all. Less than a year's use and it is already broken. For some reason the wire leading to the headset is very thin and flimsy, and sure enough one side is gone now. Too bad.. After spending lots of time and money on finding the ideal headphones for commuting, I think this is the one. It provides really good isolation (even in a screeching london tube), good bass and this one also has a volume control, which is very useful if you are travelling and quickly want to listen to that announcement. It folds in neatly, although I found the carry pouch a little small. It gives excellent volume from my Creative Zen player (unlike some larger phones which are too quiet). Another thing to note, while Planet Gizmo were very prompt in their packaging and delivery, I found the delivery charge of 14.72 a bit steep.
