good value but average MDR-V150 June 6, 2008 Mr. J. D. Wantling (United Kingdom) For years I have had a pair of Sony CD550 headphones which have just packed up after a vast amount of use. I bought these MDR-V150 to temporary replace them and also to use in the workplace. They are good value for money, but they will never replace the CD550 phones. The cable is far too short for me and needs an extension lead, and they are very uncomfortable after wearing them for 20 minutes or more. They sound Ok for what they cost, but I do not think I would purchase another pair unless Sony upgraded them to sound better, and feel better. If they did this and increased the price, I would be interested, but you pay for what you get with these phones. Sony could do better than this, but for the price, they are worth considering if you want a cheap pair of headphones.
Just as good as MDR V300 March 11, 2008 Mr. W. R. Charlton 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
About 2 years ago i purchased the more expensive MDR V300 sony headphones and was extremely impressed with the quality. Everything i would want from a pair of headphones. Excellent sound quality with nice deep bass. However, one unfortunate evening a drunken friend sat on my lovely headphones and snapped off the right earpiece. I purchased the MDR V150 as a replacement, and i am pleasantly suprised that the sound quality is indistinguishable. A good buy if you aren't looking to spend too much on headphones for everyday computer/commuting use. Can be uncomfortable on the old ears, but they soon loosen up. All in all; Goodtimes.

If you're looking for more comfort than in ear headphones without the massive bulky ones you're in the right place. The sound quality here is great for 11 and the proved remarkably durable during the 6 months I abused them for- eventually the 'headband' snapped but this is only after very rough treatment- being shoved in my overpacked schoolbag fighting for room against uncompromising books. All in all does the job but I'm now looking further up the range for a more durable pair.
Cheap but sound quality only average December 31, 2007 Comical Engineer (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
i bought these as a replacement for some other Sony phones that got damaged and have been using them on a variety of sources including my PC, DAB radio and a decent stereo. The good points: > They're cheap > The lead is reasonably long > They're light and comfortable The bad points: > The sound quality is not that good The main problem with the sound quality is the muffled and thumping bass. yes, there is plenty of bass, but it's like listening through a cushion. It thumps, bumps but there is no real definition. The mid range is ok but vocals are somewhat distant and the top end is generally ok. The MDR-250V phones are a much better bet.

Bad points: - Begin to press uncomfortably on the ears after a less than hour of use; - Frequency response is disastrously spikey in the low end - music needs several bass and low-mid frequencies EQ'd out in order to be listenable; - Has cables coming from both earpieces instead of just one. Good points: - Isolation is ok. I've used far better headphones in this price range. Stay away!
