Lousy April 11, 2008 doonjaiasi (UK) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got these after having them reccomended to me by someone in the Apple store. They are bulky and the cable-wrapping-round-your-ear system drove me to distraction. The sound quality was incredibly poor - my old Sony Fontopias are far superior in every respect.
Excellent April 8, 2008 ~D (Oxford, England & Seattle, WA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I found a display that allowed me to compare last years comlete line of Shure earphones and settled on these. The highest end model and this one had the best volume and response. I did find some of the other models didn't have the output I expected. These are a huge improvement on the iPod standards, JVC and others I had tried. I was hesitant to go for high end earphones, but honestly, well worth twice the money. All other earphones I used required me to make my own foam adapters to get a full sound. These work with the many included inserts. The equalizer was useful as the high end output is quite high. The sound clarity is excellent. I am suddenly finding myself wanting to re-record many of my tracks as I am finding so much variation in the original sound quality that I hadn't heard before. I travel with a group and our iPods are the most important bits of kit we have. The only other nearly so positive review I have heard is from the Sennheiser. I haven't done a back to back, but the reviews of these and the much higher sound output pushed me to these. The fit was a factor as well. They'd get five stars but they are expensive and I don't think any earphone has the five star response one would find with larger headphones/speakers.
Rubbish February 28, 2008 Mark Fairweather (London) 3 out of 11 found this review helpful
Having bought these I am sorely disappointed. I find them no better than the in ear pair I had that cost about 18 I wish I hadn't spent the 46. The improvement in sound quality is negligible and far outweighed by the fact that when I manage (after much messing about) to isolate outside noise I am left with every movement I make, when walking being transmitted through the wires to my ears. Thus meaning there is a constant background thump that is very very irritating. I understand that this isn't peculiar to this model but all earphones of this type. How do they get away with it?? Its very fiddly to try and wear them as they suggest, over the ear, as its difficult to keep the phones in. Why is there an extension lead? It should be just one lead because the short piece of wire is far too short to be of any use unless you are lying down resting your ipod on your chest, which funnily enough isn't my normal way of getting to and from work. This also adds to the weight which drags them out of your ears I've only had these 2 days and have tried all the different fitments. If you don't use the sleeves that isolate noise (the point of these) then the sound is far too tinny As its impossible to get a refund from Amazon because I opened the box (how silly of me)these will be going straight on ebay and back to my cheaper (better ones)
Major improvement February 8, 2008 P. Barbosa (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought a pair of Shure E2C headphones some months ago and unfortunately the cable broke. Something very unlikely, given the build and material quality. I phoned Shure distribution and they promptly replaced my headphones for the new SE110 (by the way, congratulations for the service!) These new headphones are a major improvement: the sound is richer and they have better bass response, which was a general complain. The extension cable is something that works well and the sleeves, especially the soft ones, are very impressive. I tried these headphones in the underground, airplanes and other noisy environments and never needed to get the volume above 3/4. When compared to my B&O a8, the treble is not as bright and the bass is not as deep, but for outdoor use I just take these headphones.
Not what I expected February 8, 2008 Graham Tyson (Manchester, UK) 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
After reading reviews and hearing recommendations about these, I decided to splash out and pay a bit more for a new set of headphones when my last ones bit the dust. I was expecting good things but was sorely disappointed when I did get them. Having tried all three ways of wearing them described in the instructions, I found the sound isolation pretty good. The disappointing thing with these is the sound quality. I found the bass response very poort and music on these sounded very much like it had high treble and low base (for the first time ever I have had to turn the base booster equaliser setting on on my iPod). Also I found that they didn't handle high volume too well and distorted the sound noticable. My old Sony Fontopia earphones were better than these!
