Quality pair of earphones November 18, 2008 Steven Brown after breaking my old pair of shure earphones (not the same model), I picked these up. So far, I'm very impressed. I was already used to the fact that you wrap the earphone wire round the top of your ears - while it's initially distracting and seems uncomfortable, once you're used to it, it's very comfortable - it reduces the pull on the actual earphones, so better for the ears. Noise isolation is excellent, I fly quite a lot for work, and these are excellent for keeping engine noise to a minimum. General sound quality is excellent, I've been very pleased with the range, and the sound I get from all my favourite albums. In summary, excellent earphones, very comfortable, and I would definitely recommend.
Ignore The Rating - These ROCK November 12, 2008 Ears McGraw (UK) I never write reviews, but felt an obligation as these fine headphones seem to only have an overall rating of 2.5 stars - crazy!. Firstly, i'm an audio technician, so know my stuff. i won't go into detail, but they sound good, and are very well balanced (plus they get better with time!). lets face it, these are going to be used predominantly with mp3's/portable players... i challenge anyone to justify better quality with low bitrate music! on that note, the build quality is about as good as it gets - these will survive being dragged around with your ipod (even wound round it). They cost 50% more than your bog standard headphones, but produce 400% of the quality, and will physically last! On top of that, Shure has an excellent customer service if you do run into problems, which is unlikely. i could go on all day, but i can't be gassed. In a nutshell, the Apple store sells these for 69.99 and they're worth it at that price.
Definitely worth it October 27, 2008 J. Shiers (London, England) This is a top notch set of in-ear earphones. Previously I've owned both Sennheiser CX300 and CX500. Both are brilliant for their price but break easily. I thought this time I'd splash out. I've only had these a couple of days, but you can really tell the quality difference. The wires are thicker and sturdier with very secure connections to the input plug. The Shure SE110 are very well made and look great. Soundwise they could use a bit more treble, but otherwise are brilliant. The Sound Isolation is outstanding. With the earphones in and the music on half volume, I could hear nothing around me, even when I was walking down the high street. Finally, contrary to what some people say, the earphones are very comfortable and the foam earpieces are great, they never fall out and the 3 different sizes ensure there's the right size for your ears. I recommend these to anyone looking to spend a bit more on earphones because these are well worth the 40 I paid for them.
Disappointed October 9, 2008 SimonSSE (London UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
o Found the bass response limited, and the overall sound a little bright. o Didn't understand why the ridiculously short cable - iPod would need to be in shirt pocket or on a neck band. o Fitted in ears without trouble, and had no problem getting sound isolation. Not sure how comfortable they would be in extended use. o First sound isolating type of earphone that I have tried. Yes it does what it says on the tin - and for some environments that will be good. But its a little disconcerting that you no longer have much in the way of ambient hearing. Two stars mainly because of value for money - other reputable brands have similar looking products for half the price. Returned on day of delivery for refund, and still seeking better headphones.
Cheapest Shure is like a cheap Merc October 7, 2008 Mr. Shumit Rehman (London) These are the cheapest Shure headphones by a margin and its like buying a Mercedes A class, you can see the badge and the quality, but in your heart of hearts you know its not how a Merc should be. As a step up from mp3 bundled headphones they are great but if you have already tried Sony fontopias and Creatives 630 phones you will not find a great improvement for your extra 30. The sound is low in bass, has good separation, and great mid to treble but so have the other phones I mentioned. So buy these if you've got the cash for a first upgrade but don't bother if you have already taken that first step.
