5.1 channels September 30, 2008 terrymorton (england) got the headphones today and after 30minutes of studying cables came to the conclusion they simply will not fit my dvd player which is a denon s301.it seems you have to have a 5.1 system to start with as all the cable ends are left & right front and also same for rear i thought it was a plug in to headphone socket but alas not!this is not explained too well on description or technical specs so beware before you purchase.
For the Price, brilliant! August 23, 2008 A. P. Deeks (England, bury st edmunds) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After i read the reviews for these headphones, i thought, beings i own a pair of Sennheiser HD580, these will be merely a bit of fun, and may be worth a go at 20. I never thought these would sound so good. But they do. I was suitably impressed, with how comfortable they are, and how the surround effect worked, for this price they are brilliant. I bought this for nightime listening to DVD's, as i sold my surround setup many years ago. As i had to dissconnect my main hifi, then set it up, for the AV reciever, (too much messing around) So, i was itching to buy some surround headphones, for the last 7 years. But, i was waiting until the idea had matured a bit as i heard some woeful reviews about the cheaper models, just a few years back. For the money they are fantastic, the only thing i would be concerned about at this price would be build and how they cope over time. As has been mentioned it has a vibration function, which i leave on low, and have enjoyed watching LOTR,s with, it does a very good job with spacial awareness and placement. I dont feel i have bought a cheap pair of headphones when listening as they do a marvellous job, of the complexitys of 5.1 recordings. Now i have not recieved this device yet, but i have bough a Logitech 5.1 gaming audio adaptor. This device will take a 2 channel RCA input, ie, playstation 2 sound outputs, and split it into 5.1 surround. So you can use these, without the need for a PC only setup, when gaming. Also the other reason, i am buying that adapter is i have ordered the Logitech X540 5.1 speaker setup, and this will work with them too. To summarise if your thinking of buying, but afraid for fear of them being crap, dont be, they are excellent Value.
Good Headset! August 16, 2008 Rob Ryan (United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this headset because mmy previous one broke and I was short on money. I was worried after I had ordered it that for 20 it would be poorly made. It's the opposite. I play a lot of online games and have have some very expensive headsets in the 60 range. I've had over 12 differnt headsets and they've all broken after a while. This one is easily better than a lot of them. Sound and mic quality are very good. It's built well and made from good quality materials. The in-line volume control is big but is the most well-made I have seen (a common item to break on previous headsets). The cups are velvet and very comfortable, it's not a drag to have to switch from speakers and is a joy to use. Base unit to headset cable length is generous. Mic is easy to ajust and is very flexible. The vibration is stong, but can be set to low or disabled on the in-line control. A very good headset, better than a lot of the expensive ones out there and exceptional value, don't be fooled by the price.
Fair, But it does not deserve 5 stars rating July 17, 2008 Marcal Gustavo (London UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If I Could rate this item by the box, it would get 5 stars. The box is impressive with some old fashioned yellow "silk" protecting the parts. It looks like you paid much more than 20ish for it. To connect it to your PC is fairly simple, ( just follow the instructions ) but don't try to use the euro/UK adaptor because it does not work. The headset looks solid, and the tower which you connect the headphones looks ok; besides, you can place the headphones on it ( like on the picture). Regarding the sound, its solid and delivers a 5.1 experience, if you have never used a better model, this one it will suit you fine. One thing is the vibration, it is far too strong, but can be switched off. I would give a 4 out a 5 stars, but the power plug and the power connector are not very good. The one at the back of the device is loosen and keeps switching it off all the time. For the price is a good deal if you are not willing to spend more money on a more sophisticated model. You can't go wrong with this product.
Fantastic Value! Superb Product! January 24, 2008 Mr. J. Crook (Kent, UK) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
My headphones arrived today and I have to say i'm extremely impressed. For under 20 I was worried they would be low quality, but quite the opposite, they are better than my 50 pair of 5.1 headphones that I purchased a few years ago. Easy to set up Volume controls for each channel 2x Headphone sockets Microphone Very comfortable Good bass/treble Windows Vista detected them as 5.1 straight away and I played some music(Mike Oldfield) and although not strictly 5.1, the sound quality is immense. The only thing missing is it came with a 2-pin mains adapter, so I borrowed an adapter from my laptop to convert it to the UK 3-pin standard.
