Nails down a blackboard September 22, 2008 Sarah Jane 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these to replace the earphones that Sony supplied with my Sony NWZ-A818 MP3 player, those earphones had excellent sound quality, but they were the traditional earphone shape, which i always have trouble wearing due to them falling out. So i though i'd buy a new pair of moderately priced Sony earphones that were more ergonomic. I assumed that since my other pair of Sony earphones were so excellent then these would be too, especially since these ones were most likely more valuble than the ones Sony bundle with their MP3 players. Well... i was WRONG. These sound awful. The sound quality is terrible and makes music sound tinny and like nails down a blackboard. It's so bad i couldn't listen to more than a couple of songs, it was painful compared to the soft, bassy sound of my old ones. It does mention in the instructions that you may not be able to hear the full bass effect if you're wearing the wrong sized earpads with them, but i tried the small, medium and large sizes supplied and it still sounds awful. Total waste of 20. I'm handing them into the charity shop. They're worth 5 at most. Shame Sony quality is so random and inconsistent.
Very good and comfortable June 26, 2008 Christopher Carrera 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Got these a week ago, they fit in the ear nicely and give a very good sound and at 25 they're worth every penny. Don't know what the previus reviewer is on about. Also about the cable thing, do you really need instructions?
Nothing special June 21, 2008 Mark S (Hastings, UK) 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought Sony earphones because they are normally good value, for design and sound quality. On receiving these I was disappointed. The sound is good, but not worth the price tag, and I didn't like the cabling arrangement. There were no instructions about how to use the earphones in respect to the cabling, and I have since discovered that the design is called "asymetric cabling". You're supposed to put the cable for the right ear behind your head. I found this out by reading the back of a package for Philips earphones in a shop. If you want a good pair of in-ear phones, with a normal cable arrangement, I recommend JVC HA-FX66-R, at half the price.
