Good bike apart from gears July 19, 2008 Purevil (Essex, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this bike as I wanted as much extras I could get for little money, The bike is good even if it is a little heavy, (same spec bike in argos is 200) The only thing that lets this bike down is the gears, they must be the cheapest gears on the market, not even the old type skoda cars would of used these, I got the whole gears system replaced in the first week (cost me about 50.00 for second hand stuff) The bike comes partly built and the instructions and completely useless, In a whole, for the money you pay it's value, but be prepared for a few head aches and to replace the gears after one ride (oviously they are mass produced and it shows as a few bolts were missing off mine)
Decent Bike for the Price May 28, 2008 Eamonn O. Reilly (London) 48 out of 49 found this review helpful
I've had this bike for a week now and I'm very happy with it. A few words of warning - 1 - This bike does require about an hours worth of assembly. 2 - The instructions I got with it were very generalistic and weren't specifically written for this bike. It looks like they are a standard set for all types of mountain bike by this manufacturer. They were close enough though and after a few minutes it was pretty easy to work out what was relevant and what wasn't. 3 - My bike had the brake lines setup badly which meant they were hitting the front wheel when I turned left. 20 minutes tinkering sorted that out but I did need a tool that didn't come in the box (which thankfully I already owned) to alter the brakes. 4 - You will need a bike pump as the tires come only partly inflated. In short it's not ready to ride out of the box and you need to have a pump and some basic bike tools (you'll need these things soon enough after buying any bike so I won't score down because of them). 5 - This bike is fairly heavy. I don't mind this but I know a lot of people prefer a lighter frame. The good news - This is a solidly built bike that I have really enjoyed riding. For the price I really can't fault it. If you want a bike for casual riding this bike is perfect. I'm 6'1" and it's a pretty good fit for me but I do have the seat as high as it can go without buying a new seat post. Someone taller may find the seat a bit low. I would give it 4.75 out of 5 (it loses .25 for the problem with the brakes and for being a little on the heavy side)
