Product Description German tanks thunder into the snow-covered Ardennes forest, opposed only by a few unsuspecting divisions of exhausted American troops. As Axis forces plunge into the countryside, Allied troops must struggle to hold the front line in order to repel the all

Good fun and makes you think September 6, 2008 Stella Artois (England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Had to comment on seeing the other review here. This game is quick to learn and good fun to play. It is challenging from both sides and the supply rules really can cause the Germans problems. The allies struggle to cover all the possible German lines of advance along the roads through the forest, and need to conserve their strength until they get air support.
An o.k. game but not a great blend of complexity vs. fun. June 3, 2008 Gisli Jokull Gislason (Iceland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Battle of the Bulge is a game in the Axis and Allies series but aside from using the same gaming pieces it is very different in how you play. It takes the last great German offensive as its story and it makes for an interesting set up. The rules are very diffrent and the few similarities will confuse more than help. Read the rules very carefully before playing. An example turn is missing which is a pitty because the rules although simple are not so clear until you have played the game with the rules at hand. A new feature in the game is supplies and strangely enough although they add considerable complexity and scorekeeping they don't really effect gameplay so they seem redundant. Luck with the dice is also to great a factor on deciding the game and there isn't much flexibility in game tactics. This is a better game than D-Day in the series but compared to the more successful games in the series, like the original Axis and Allies, A&A Pacific and A&A Guadalcanal this game isn't very good. Lastly I should mention that this is the only game that doesn't come with a plastic box to keep your game pieces in, it comes instead with a cardboard cut out tray which has no real bottom and your pieces constantly are moving about, not a good move. The plastic trays are much better.
