Best Hi-Fi upgrade I have ever purchased!! June 28, 2008 Lord of the Rings reader (United Kingdom) I can't fault this product, purchased 2 of these about 6 months ago and the biggest improvement I noticed was in the picture quality of my LCD TV and Blu Ray player, images looked sharper with the colours more detailed. This upgrade is really a no brainer especially for the price and I can't recommend this enough.
Disappointing June 14, 2008 Bob 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this 6-way mains filter on the basis of the what hifi recommendation and the customer reviews on Amazon. However after testing it with a denon cd player, Onkyo mini system and my tv/dvd player I found no significant improvements in sound or picture quality. The item appears to be solid in construction and does function perfectly well as a normal 6-way extension should. However I find it's fairly unattractive to look at with some components on display through a small plastic window- I assume the manufacturer did this to demonstrate that it is more that your average extension lead. My advice would be to buy a cheaper, quality 6-way with surge protection if you need one and give this a miss. If you're still unconvinced do a search on the internet as there are articles dismissing the claimed benefits of mains filters. I wish I had of done, then I could have saved myself a few quid- still you live and learn.
Tacima 6-way mains conditioner - get one! May 18, 2008 John (Cheshire UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having bought a Chord Chameleon to connect my Roksan Kandy amp and & CD player, how could I not try 20 for this! And I noticed an immediate improvement in clarity, separation - everything sounds cleaner and sharper. Also connected are turntable, tuner and cassette deck (yes, I still have one of those). All sound better - I compared before and after on all sources. Good quality recordings on any source sound their best, but of course poorer ones still sound poor. Even a (carefully calibrated) chrome cassette recording from vinyl of Cocaine from Clapton's Just One Night sounds far more sharp and detailed than the experts tell us that cassette can sound. The difference everywhere is unmistakable. I was sceptical, willing to write it off as an expensive multi-socket connector, but am now actually 100% convinced and converted. So I now have a second one for my AV surround set-up at the other end of the room - same result for all sources. And have now just bought one for my son as well, for use on his hifi & TV. When you think about it, it's not even 20 - it costs just the difference between the one you would need to use (or were already using) and this. A bargain! You don't need to be a nerd to appreciate the improvement.
Best value Hi-Fi upgrade bar none...5 Stars is not enough April 28, 2008 Will (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received my Tacima 6 way today, and have used it to replace a standard 6 way adapter that I was running my Hi-Fi from. If you are using a normal power adapter of some kind in your Hi-Fi setup you MUST get this product. I put the Tacima in place of the ordinary adapter I had been using, and kept the original handy in order to replace the Tacima for a thorough sound comparison (you know how sometimes the improvement can only be detected retrosepectively)...however after a very short listening spell the improvements were so obvious that the old one is consigned to the spares bin. Better separation, better stereo imaging, clearer more controlled bass, the sort of thing a very expensive amp upgrade might gain you, and all for 20!!!!!!!!!! FYI I'm running the following gear; Audiolab 8000/CDM/DAX/S/SX biamp/biwire into some refurbished Mission 753s, and yes all from the same 6 way extension. Perhaps audiophiles would point out that I'd been rather remiss in only using an ordinary adapter previously, and I'm sure I could spend thousands on alternative supplies/cables. But for 20 this has to be the single most cost effective way of upgrading your Hi-Fi. P.S. I've just ordered another 2 for the AV equipment... P.P.S. What Hi-Fi gives it 5 Stars at 50
Yes very cool! December 30, 2007 Mike T (West Sussex UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I run a shortwave and VHF/UHF listening post and was pleasantly surprised at the reduction of noise levels once I installed this unit!
