The Champagne Murders October 31, 2004 Jenny (United Kingdom) 86 out of 91 found this review helpful
This was my very fisrt murder mystery and it was great fun. The plot is hilarious with all kinds of unexpected twists. The tape is really helpful with a summary after each round. This one is set in London, 1967 with gangsters, actors and singers. All the guests had a fantastic time. It's the sort of thing that's fun whether it's taken seriously or not, as it is possible to work out who dunnit. I would recommend this to anybody over the age of 16.

If you've never held a murdery mystery party before - here's your perfect opportunity to give it a go! The essential ingredients to make it go with a bang are: this game kit (obviously!), a yummy yet easy buffet (as the game is best played over the course of a dinner - but you don't want to spend your whole evening in the kitchen), a generous supply of drinks (to get everyone loosened up and relaxed into their character roles) and lots of enthusiastic guests in costume! NB: You'll need to give your guests a bit of notice when arranging this so that they can get themselves set up with fitting and hilarious outfits - and don't forget the camera! The theme for this particular party is champagne, gangsters and lots of 60's stuff. Me & my guests had a fantastic evening with this one. As long as everyone is enthusiastic and willing to let their hair down you don't have to be great actors or actresses to have fun as there's no right or wrong way to 'play' the game. Ironically, the best thing is not to even try to take it seriously and work out 'whodunnit' - there are so many red-herrings it is impossible to work out - but I can guarantee you will definitely have tons of fun trying!!! I would definitely recommend this as an excellent alternative way of celebrating New Years Eve, a birthday or anniversary - or for no other reason than you enjoy getting together with friends for hilarious & memorable evenings! My guests haven't stopped asking when the next party will be!!! ENJOY! (I know you will)
