Lost The Game: Epic Fail. July 3, 2008 H. Phipps (Brighton/London) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I decided to buy Lost The Game because it was relevant to my interests; I have been an avid fan of Lost since the word go & was intrigued by the prospect of The Game. On first inspection, the instructions weren't the best. Having spent half an hour interpreting the somewhat ambiguous rules we started to play The Game. And play it we did. Some several hours later we concluded that you can't ever technically win The Game. Admittedly, it could be argued that when one is not losing The Game, they are winning The Game, but it still holds true that no one can ever definitively win The Game. Maybe we were doing it wrong but quite frankly I'd suggest actually watching Lost whilst playing top trumps or battle cards rather than buying ths epic failure of a game.

First of be patient if you are a fan of the show you will love the game takes a while to get going but once you understand it you wont want to stop.
Lost - we were! June 24, 2007 R. Ross (Uk) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. We were expecting a well thought out interesting game. It turned about to be none of the above. The rules aren't just vague, they're terrible. Its incredibly confusing and personally, I don't expect to have to 'go visit the website' just to find out how to play the game i've spent 20 on. There are problems everywhere, some explanation just totally missed out from the rules, not enough holders for the character pieces, just generally no thought. In all a huge shame and frankly, a waste of 20.
Poorly designed and shoddily made, but not entirely without merit... January 1, 2007 The Tea Caddy (UK) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
It's never a good sign when the best thing about a product is the packaging, and the illusion of quality and robustness given off by the biscuit-tin-style box that houses "Lost - The Game" is quickly dispelled when you remove the lid. Cheap materials and manufacturing processes are everywhere in evidence, all the way down to the incomprehensible rules, presented on a couple of photocopied sheets of A4. On reading these, you find yourself advised to visit the game's website, where a more complete (but still fairly opaque) set of rules is available. And the gameplay? Careless ambiguities in the instructions are a recipe for conflict between players struggling to grasp the basic principles of the game, and the early stages are inescapably dull and frustrating, but after half an hour or so the game develops some shape and momentum, and things begin to pick up. You start to figure out strategies, build up your personal resources to the point where you're on the cusp of victory, then have your hard-earned advantage suddenly stripped away by the random turn of a card. It's not as engaging as, say, Scrabble, but it's a little bit different and quite fun if you get into the 'Lost' vibe without taking it too seriously. What's unforgiveable is the lack of care that's gone into the design and manufacture of the board and game pieces. The whole thing (apart from the tin) is desperately cheap in a way that the TV series has never been.
Stick with it! December 29, 2006 S. Richards 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The first time we tried to play this game there was quite a lot of confusion and frustration; the rule book isn't laid out particularly well and some areas are quite unclear (the makers have since produced an updated, clearer set of rules available on the website!). However it is worth sticking with as there are lots of twists and turns in the game play, it's very strategic and no two games will ever be the same due to the way the board is set up randomly each time. One annoying thing is that there are seventeen characters and the game only comes with eight character holders! Overall it is worth the money and don't be put off if you think it's too complicated - once you've played through a game or two, it does make sense!
