Very expensive, but eventually worth it. June 6, 2002

After having used the Hard Case for a few months now, except for the price, all the other problems mentioned by the other shoppers seem hardly worth thinking about. For me, the case has served my Palm Vx well and provided good protection. Sometimes however, the Contrast button at the top of the Palm Vx would press accidentally.
The important thing though is that Palm have listened to its customers and brought out the "Scribble Palm-Tec Aluminium Hard Case for m500 series", which seems to solve all the problems found in the "Palm Vx/V Hard Case". This means of course that to enjoy its benefits, I would have to purchase a Palm m500 series PDA!

If only this case had the simple feature of securely fastening shut, and wasn't quite so flimsy, and didn't have such an ugly big hinge on it. Otherwise it's very good, but should be a bit better.
 Protective But Poorly Produced August 1, 2001
I bought this "aluminium case" along with my Vx as essential protection for the Vx's screen etc. However, had I made this purchase with my own money (rather than corporate) I have to say I would have returned it as I feel it constitutes very poor value. It is infact an average quality plastic case with two thin faces of (doubtful) aluminium covering. The metal areas are prone to collecting debris due to their surface finish. It may provide protection (luckily I haven't dropped the Vx yet to find out) but as far as Value for money goes, this is a 1-star item from Palm.

The hard case is probably pretty essential for most of us who end up carrying our Palm V's in any old pocket. But it is NOT made of "anodised aluminium". It is made of hard plastic, with an aluminium plate over the front and the back. It might be essential, but it's not worth the money I paid for it. I really don't like companies that misdescribe their products, and overcharge their customers just because they know they can get away with it!!

Yes its expensive, but lots cheaper than buying a new palm. The number of times I've dropped, knocked etc my machine to find its emerged without a scratch because of the case are innumerable. Yes it makes your palm slightly larger (but what do you expect?) but you still end up with a very stylish product. It is expensive for what it is but there don't seem to be any alternatives on the market which combine ruggedness with a slim design. If you own a palm vx and intend to use it on the go (and what other reason is there for a palm) then this is a must buy.
