Product Description The Belkin 802.11g Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router lets users share files and a broadband Internet connection among their computers-without using networking cables. It features 802.11g technology that makes accessing files and networked peripherals-such as hard drives, printers, CD-ROMs, and DVDs-easier than ever. 802.11g technology provides you with networking speeds nearly five times faster than the current Wi-Fi (802.11b) standard. An integrated, 4-port 10/100Base-T Ethernet switch also allows you to connect wired computers to the network. 802.11g technology is the easiest wireless network to implement. The Gateway Router uses the wireless 802.11g 2.4GHz standard to offer you the widest working range-upto 1500 feet-and greater interoperability in mixed networking environments.802.11g technology is backward compatible with the 802.11b Wi-Fi networking standard, so it allows you to implement faster wireless technologies in combination with existing 802.11b Wi-Fi networks. An added Turbo Mode will isolate your network from 802.11b wireless clients and allow your network to transmit data at the highest 802.11g data rate.

Unreliable October 8, 2008 Ms. J. E. Gallo Have had endless problems with this router. At first it wouldn't work wirelessly, and after hours of sorting it out it worked fine for a week and then started cutting out every few minues. This makes IM programmes such as MSN and Skype impossible to use because your messages will not send and you will be disconnected repeatedly. Any downloading is also difficult as it will freeze halfway through. Like others have said, it will work for a little while if you reset it or unplug it and plug it back in but it is very unreliable. Have ordered a Netgear router to replace it, hopefully it will work better. Don't buy this router.
Belkin hell September 23, 2008 Michael Dodds (London, UK) I had bought this expecting to be able to extend my wireless Voyager 2110 range. The product does indicate that it can be configured to be used as a repeater. On making a connection using the `Easy set up' option and achieving a good signal from Belkin I couldn't access the Belkin configuration web address to make the necessary inputs. This suggested that Voyager and Belkin had conflicts. However on contacting Belkin support they informed me that my version ` F5D7230-4 version 7002 does not support bridging wirelessly' anyway hence this device is useless and on the way back to Amazon. If you are considering buying this as a repeater make sure that it is not version 7002 and check with Belkin that it will be compatible with your primary router and ask what version does support the repeater mode. Also: bad marks for not making this clear on their item specification.
Disappointing August 26, 2008 Peter C. Armitage (West Yorks) Purchased a Belkin wireless G cable router direct from my ISP, NTL approx 18 months ago. Setup did not go according to plan and had to seek telephone help to sort out making connection secure, but after this initial problem, all seemed OK. Then in March 2008 the router died on me. I contacted Belkin support, and after the 3rd phone call managed to get someone who could speak English clear enough for me to explain the problem and subsiquently organise a replacement unit. The new unit arrived within 5 days and was up and running in an hour or so. Then in August 2008, it started dropping the Internet connection on both the hard wired PC and the wireless laptop, as experienced by other reviewees. Several calls to Belkin resulted in me being talked through a firmware update, which in all honesty solved the problem on the hard wired PC but am experiencing issues when connecting wireless. Again several calls to Belkin, again struggling to follow instructions because of language barriers, has resulted in the laptop now connecting but not holding connection for any length of time. I am currently playing around with settings myself to see what happens as I cannot take the stress of the Belkin Indian call centres. Save yourselves a load of bother and choose a different make of router.
Weak Signals reduced internet speed July 16, 2008 Wakeel U. A. Effendi (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Belkin Wireless Cable G Router 54Mbps + 4 Port 10/100 Switch I am not satisfied with the wireless reception with this wireless router. when i use internet through this device it weakens internet signals and reduce the internet speed. I am not overall satisfied with its wireless performance.
Good Product for Technophobes July 12, 2008 Dr. S. L. Cheang (UK) I didn't have a clue about WPA/WEP. I didn't even know that if you have cable broadband that you have to use a different type of wireless router (as opposed to BT broadband). I was with Virgin Media for broadband and bought the Belkin wireless G Router about 6 months ago. I bought a different one initially (not meant for cable broadband) and got pretty stressed when it failed to connect. Simple to set up following instructions on the CD rom. Took me about 20mins straight out of the box to set up and get a signal on my laptop. If you get the installation wrong just do the hard reset by pushing a small button at the back with a straightened wire paper clip. I also bought a netgear Wifi receiver and it was easy to connect to my now aging PC, picked up the wireless signal straightaway. I will be selling my Belkin wireless G router as moved house recently to a non cable area. This is a good, simple, no nonsense cable wifi router.
