Slow...... Expensive November 15, 2008 DANGERMOUSE (Essex, UK) It is extortionate to charge this much for something you will probably only ever use once. Once you've transferred all your huge files you will probably, like me, go out and but a large USB stick for the day-to-day transfers because you will not have the time to wait for it to dawdle your files from one PC to another. Believe me, it is very slooow!
64 bit operating systems are not supported. September 7, 2008 H. Hirani (Edgware, Middlesex, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have Vista Business 64 bit installed on my laptop and it don't work. Their website confirms this. It would have been helpful if Belkin mentioned system requirements before I spent money on this...
2 stars for effort June 10, 2008 Chappers (London) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Usually I'm a big fan of Belkin products, so I blame Microsoft for the rubbish software (the hardware itself works without a fault). The only reason I moved to a Vista pc was because my XP's disc had been poorly partitioned and I'd completely run out of space on my logical C drive. Imagine my mood when this software insisted on installing to my XP's C drive AND wanted 500MB of spare disc space to install itself, thank you very much.. When I finally got it installed I couldn't work out for love nor money how to "select individual files or directories" - it seemed to want to transfer everything or nothing. Intuitive it is not. At that point I gave up and bought myself a Lexar 4GB USB flash drive - also on sale via Amazon - very quick, under my control, completely reusable, and worked fine without me losing my temper!
DISASTER! May 4, 2008 Pete V (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Having followed the (poor) instructions provided, my Windows XP Home Edition Desktop PC crashed. I spent half a day TRYING to repair the damage this software/hardware did to my PC; I am still waiting to see if I get any response to the irate email I've sent Belkin. My advice: "DON'T PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT OR ATTEMPT TO USE IT" (unless you have an I.T. specialist standing by). I've learnt an expensive lesson using this. Thank God my new laptop survived the fiasco! (9/6/08 - Despite 3 emails to Belkin, not even a single acknowledgement, let alone reply. They just don't give a damn having already got my money. I WILL NEVER purchase another Belkin product, nor recommend anyone else to do so) BELKIN SUCKS! 20/6/08: Still absolutely NOTHING from Belkin. 22/6/06: A bit coincidental... I've had an unsolicited email from Belkin Tech Support... perhaps they read these reviews? I filled in the required online email form and will wait to see what, if anything, happens next.... 1/7/08: Well, I replied to their tech support email immediately and surprise surprise... I've not heard a word since! Belkin really are S**t! in every department. Their products don't work, their customer support is non-existant, and their tech support staff appear to have nodded off instead of sorting this mess out. By the time this gets sorted out (IF it EVER does) I'll need another cable and software for Microsoft's next operating system! Perhaps that's Belkin's ploy?
Doesn't do what it says on the box!!! April 23, 2008 T. Rawding (Southern UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this cable to transfer settings from my XP to new Vista machine. The XP had a lot of data on it, multiple accounts and the usual photo's\music etc. I set the process in motion and after circa 12hrs, it was still sat on transferring the Office2003. I gave up after 3 attempts as it was quicker to reinstall and reconfigure the machine bit by bit. As for the cable? Well, it did transfer my 14gb photo directory over night, alas, as a consequence I don't know how long this took.
