Rubbish November 14, 2008 Uncle Ook 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've used many wireless devices over the years and this is by far the worst. Yes the range is great. Yes the configuration options are useful. Yes it looks nice. But what good is all that if you cannot get a stable connection? My streaming devices continually lose connection after a few minutes, often not even long enough to get through one music track on my squeezeboxes. I dare not attempt firmware updates on any device incase the Belkin drops the connection half way through. A constant frustration. The latest firmware made no difference. I have now ditched this in favour of my trusty old d-link box.

Easy enough setup, everything works fine out of the box EXCEPT the display more of which later. Firstly WIFI - Excellent range - increased the range of my previous Pre-N router twice over!. Secondly the display - Screens 2 and 3 don't work - Having problems trying to get it to show any download or upload speeds. Thirdly - Tech Support - Belkin have allot to answer for.

I have had this router for the past 1 year and below are my observations as compared to my previous Netgear DG834g router. (after installing it, I upgraded to the latest firmware 1.00.15) +VE - It looks stylish - The front display is useful for quick information e.g. watching upload and download speed. - The guest SSID is a great idea (but I can't get it to work) - I use it with a G card and the range / signal has improved as compared with my old Netger DG834g. -VE - The odd stand makes it VERY difficult to attach / stick it to the wall (as routers are always recommended to be kept at the highest part one the wall) - It does not e-mail security logs - The front main login page displays ALL your router information (all IP information, SSID, Serial #,etc), meaning if you turn on Remote Management, anyone with your IP address and WITHOUT your password can still see your router / network configuration?!?!?! - You can't assign DHCP IP addresses based upon MAC addresses, meaning you need to hard code the IP address on the computer if you want it to retain them. That means before you reset your router or firmware upgrade, you need to make sure all the IPs are hard coded in the devices otherwise all the network IP mappings will change. - The download / upload display screen freezes atleast once a week and I need to reboot it to work again. - The router drops network connection through out the day...at first I only noticed this when I connected my PS3 over wireless, since that day I have also noticed connections being dropped to all my devices. - Support provided for this product from India is as useful as a swimming pool without water. I have called them about 3 times and all they make me do is reset my router to factory settings, or install a new firmware, neither has fixed any of my problems. my verdict...it might be an idea to stick with Netgear.
Great product, both the look and usability February 3, 2008 Mark Walters (Brighton. UK) 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
OK, a quite comprehensive reply has already been left but if you're like me, you know a little bit about computers and want something simple to set-up and use either through a LAN or wireless then this baby's for you. It really was just a case of plugging in the cables with very little configuring. The wireless set-up was straight forward and I recommend following the whole process to ensure a secure connection, I used a USB key and this allowed me to set-up each wireless device quickly and simply. OK the LCD screen is a bit basic but it's still a million times better looking than any other wireless router. It's been about a month since it's been comnnected and it's faultless. The internet is via cable and connects to one machine and I can access it from any machine on the network.
