DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!!!!! February 22, 2008 Mrs. L. Britt (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I spent a bit more thinking it would be worth it - it isn't. Why do I keep being told that a cartridge is 'not recognised' when it has not long been replaced - this has happened twice now necessitating forking out for another cartridge before time which makes it very expensive to run, and I would also like to know why, when it is having one of these tantrums about the cartridges, none of the other functions work so that I can't even scan a document into my PC, surely this activity has nothing to do with the ink! Another very annoying thing is that when I twist off the seal in order to insert a new cartridge it sprays me with indellible ink - I probably lose a significant proportion of the contents and it takes a couple of days to get the stain off my hands. Urghhhh! Don't buy this printer!!!
Best printer I have ever owned January 23, 2008 supermoving (UK) What a fantastic printer, I've had it a few months now after finally having had enough of my previous Epson all in one. My comments on this printer are pretty much summed up by what others have said already, I just wanted to give it another well deserved 5* rating. Highly recommended.
A useful note for Mac / Adobe users August 29, 2007 Bristly Badger (Deep underground) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is an outstanding printer and is serving us very well in our design and photography business. It is excellent value. We run a Mac system here and other buyers of this printer might be interested in the following advice: if you plan to print directly onto a printable CD from Adobe programs such as Illustrator, it is all fairly straight forward. BUT, when you print, make sure you select CD Tray F as the Media in the General menu of the Illustrator Print dialogue. AND THEN go to the Setup menu in the print dialogue and set Placement: Origin Y to 88.837 mm. If you leave it on the standard setting of 65.837mm, the print will be offset by 28mm. Best wishes.
Initial problem but now working ok June 28, 2007 Neil Ives (Worcestershire UK) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
I bought this printer because my technophobe wife was complaining that she couldn't get at our thousands of digital images on the PC. The attraction of being able to easily print good quality photos from a camera card or copy from a print without having to turn the PC on was what I wanted for her. Of course the printer also works from the PC, connected by a USB cable, (not supplied unfortunately) and the driver software has a useful print preview function. The printer is not cheap but it does do exactly what it claims to do. I initially had a problem: The last 1" or so of every picture was banded and distorted. I wasted many sheets of photo paper trying to clean and align the print head. I was considering returning the printer to Amazon but when I got a good light and inspected the output rollers I could see that the right hand side of the rollers had a small gap. This meant that the last section of paper was not being pulled through properly causing the problems I've described. I fiddled with the roller and it dropped down into place. I imagine the printer was probably handled roughly in transit and the roller was jogged out of place. Anyway, since then the printer has worked fine.
Canon pixma MP810 June 27, 2007 Stuart Rycraft (UK) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I think i paid 184 and it was delivered next day, What can i say, very impressed with it probably printed off 800+ A-4 text pages in the last 48hrs, (some with diagrams) in fast/draft mode the quality is still impressive, the black ink cartridge is still over half full, love the way the door flap opens itself before it prints (i'm sad i know). Its quiet enough, also has a quiet mode but not used it yet. Easy to use, over all so far i am impressed and pleased with it, chose it for the option of being able to print from negatives, but not used that function yet, and also because the inks for canon's are probably the cheapest around..
