My first and last Lexmark May 20, 2008 Mr. David Knox (London) Bought this piece of junk back in February. These are just some of the annoyances: 1. Printer drivers crash my PC. 2. Sheet feeder (e.g. for faxes) drags multiple sheets through at once. 3. Refuses to connect to PC when trying to scan and send the result to a PC program. 4. Printing slow and poor quality. This is the first time I bought a Lexmark and will be the last. They are cheap for good reasons.
Absolutely awful. April 5, 2008 Craggle (England) I bought this to replace an old HP which had finally given up the ghost after many years without a problem. The X9350 is the top of the range for this type of Lexmark printer. My first impressions were that it feels very cheap when opening the lid etc and print quality is of a lower standard than any printer I have owned for the last 8 years. Out of the box the Wireless card (built into the back) is broken and I am struggling to find time during office hours to call their support line. I will update this review once I've rung them, but right now, I wouldn't recommend buying this. If this is top of the range, I dread to think what the budget model is like. Update (13/10/08) I eventually got this working. The wireless card worked once I had taken it out and put it back in again which leads me to suspect that it wasn't seated properly. Given that it was screwed into place, this is unlikely to have happened in transit. Many hours of frustration when attempting to get the printer running were followed by the eventual realisation that this printer will only install if you have exactly the software configuration it is expecting. Not using Microsoft Windows firewall? Forget it. Even following the instructions to the letter, the printer couldn't communicate with the PC. I eventually got it working and I've now been using it for a good few months. Sadly, I have even more bad news. 1) If you leave the printer on for any length of time it will drop its connection to the wireless network. The only way to use it is to turn it off as soon as your done and turn it back on when you need it again. 2) It drinks ink like it's free. I've never known a printer get through so much ink. I'm not a heavy user and 40 worth of ink cartridges (that's how much the "high capacity" set costs) is almost used up in about 6 weeks. 3) I did work out how to get the print quality up to scratch. You have to use very specific types of paper. Obviously paper quality/type is going to affect the resulting print but I've not experienced the level of restriction/degredation with any of the HP and Epson printers I've owned in the past. My final conclusion. This printer "works", so I will be unable to return it for a refund now. It is so awful, however, I will be replacing it shortly. Given my experience, I will never purchase a Lexmark product again. Score downgraded to 1 star (from 2) (if I can work out how). Stear well clear.
Definitely a disaster! February 27, 2008 J. Delaney Like the previous review this looks as though it is going to be so brilliant - 4 in 1 and wireless - but nothing is satisfactory. The set up was a nightmare because the disk supplied did not cover Vista so you have to download the drivers for that, but I found that there is a glitch in that as I can only get it to print for that session and then you have to reload the drivers each time - and I still haven't got it to print wirelessly. I have been on for hours to the Indian call centre and with the line keep going dead each time the other person talks and his very unclear instructions I got nowhere and gave up. The few times I have got it to print the paper gets stuck in the duplexer every few sheets and to try to open the back section which doesn't release properly and get the paper out is so difficult that you feel like throwing the lot out of the window. If it did what it was meant to it would be wonderful - but it doesn't.
X9350 Disaster July 6, 2007 The Doc (Guernsey C.I) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having the need to replace my printer I thought an all in one would be the way to go, and I could replace my fax at the same time. I diligently studied all the bumpf from all the manufacturers and decided on the Lexmark X 9350. Well what a bad move. it all connected up OK but it transpired that the fax was unreliable when receiving calls. After many hours to an Indian call centre "god help us" they told me that it was not compatible with the analogue side of a broadband connection, my previous fax had worked fine for 6 years this way. Now I find this strange as I would think that most users would try to use it this way. Then I discovered that the duplexer jams on anything more than 80 gm paper and to cap it all I cannot get the answering machine connected at all. The quality of the scanner is far from good and I don't consider it suitable for photographs As they claim that a replacement machine will not resolve the problem I have contacted the Lexmark product manager and am currently awaiting a solution.
