Stay well clear November 30, 2008 Christina Cowan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Firstly it said it came with full inkjet cartridges. After five pages all the cartridges were empty. Inserted new and after only a dozen pages the ink was low again on all even though I had only printed in black and white. Next problem it only started to print a half page before stopping, even though there was no paper jam. I tried to put several pages through the scanner ( with blank paper so not to use any ink )to try and fix the problem. Lo and behold after just a few pages, the ink was low again! I have used three sets of cartridges with perhaps twenty properly printed pages. Absolutely useless machine and a total con when it comes to cartridges. If only one colour runs out it won't print until you replace it.
Have I got a different DX7400 to everyone else? November 8, 2008 Nikon Lady (uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a semi professional photographer, and have had this printer for about six months. Admittedly I send most of my work to a professional lab, but I have used this printer for many of my portfolio photographs, A4 and smaller. I use genuine Epson ink and papers and I have had fantastic prints from it. If you don't print too many A4 size photos I find the inks last quite a long time. For around 50, it is amazing value, especially as the scan and copy functions work very well.
its total rubbish October 8, 2008 M. E. North (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I replaced my cartridges and now the printer will only print in black and white, no matter what i do. I have taken the cartridges out, back in again replaced them with a fresh set and it still doesnt print in colour. AVOID THIS PRINTER
Worst Printer I've ever had! October 2, 2008 A. Shewan (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It prints OK etc, but the replacement ink is a nightmare! Noting but original carts work and even then it's liable to come up with an error - then it wont print. If one color runs out, it wont print at all - not even black, and not even if the black is full - useless!!!!
I hate this printer July 4, 2008 Mrs. H. Graham (UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is by far the worst epson printer I have ever had. I have just tried replacing one ink cartridge. Would it let me just replace one? No way! I had to replace all the cartridges even though the black ink was nearly full. This is a common occurence. Along with the fact that it stops prinitng in the middle of an image and then ejects the paper so you can't just carry on printing after replacement. Also, you have to do a great deal of head cleaning to get the ink to flow properly to get decent print outs. It is costing me a fortune in ink. I have probably wasted more money in wasted ink than the damn thing cost to buy. I have always used Epson printers and have mostly been very happy, but I loathe this one. Once this lot of ink is used...which will be very quickly at this rate...I am chucking it in the bin and getting something more reliable. The only reason I have given it 1 star is because, once I finally get it to print, the images are very clear...but that does not outweigh the stress and hassle of never knowing whether it is going to perform properly.
