Excellent value for money July 14, 2008 D. K. Cain (Cramlington, UK.) I bought this printer several months ago, and cannot fault the printer. It comes with a set of ink cartridges and is easy to install the printer software. Within minutes you are up and running. The printer is quiet and reasonably fast in both printing color, and black and white pages. The printer even has a silent mode, but i've never used it. The printer is fairly large in size and requires a decent space on your computer desk, but im just nit picking here...... If you want a quality printer that copys, prints and does good quality a4 photographs, and your budget is limited, then this is a fab buy. Just a note, that the set of ink cartridges to replace are the cost of the printer.........!!!!!!!
Brilliant, so much better than epson! June 23, 2008 manda After having 2 different Epson printers, I was so amazed by the difference between the two. This Canon does not seem to eat ink every time you switch it on. It prints much faster and the prints are also much sharper. Especially when printing photos. Can't really comment on long term ink as I haven't had it long, but so far seems much better than my old epson. I would recommend this printer to anyone.
Beware! - software wiped everything off the desktop June 14, 2008 Marietta 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I selected this for my mother who wanted a cheap colour printer on which she could print/scan/copy the occasional document or colour photo. She bought it at the end of March; I installed and set it up for her and it was working fine. She has hardly used it but about a month ago reported that it was no longer working insofar as it wasn't picking up the paper. Have finally got to look at it today (I live 250 miles away), and she clearly has the same problem that I've seen reported here frequently - an E2 error message and the paper roller on the right hand side simply isn't picking up properly. To make matters worse, I decided to scan her invoice and pop it on my memory stick as a PDF in case I had to deal with this on her behalf (she is housebound) once I got home. It was the first time the (Canon) scanning software had been used. Seemed very straightforward, exactly as I would expect scanning software to look, asked it to scan the document as a PDF onto the desktop, which it appeared to do, but once it had finished the scanning process and I closed the Canon window I found that the desktop was completely blue with all icons and shortcuts gone (only the taskbar was still visible)! I restarted thinking everything would come back as before - it didn't. So I system restored to three days earlier - still a completely blue desktop. I tried remaking the shortcuts which was fine until I dragged the shortcut onto the desktop whereupon it didn't appear. It seems as if the scanning software has put a blue screen on top of the desktop obscuring it from view. I can only think that this is some sort of software conflict - has anyone else had this problem? Unfortunately I ran out of time but on my next visit I will completely uninstall the Canon Pixma MP210 software and hope that that will resolve the issue. As for the printer, given that my mother has only had it 10 weeks, has hardly used it and it is now unusable, and this seems to be a common fault (but, unfortunately, I hadn't seen it flagged up when I was researching for her), I can only suggest you avoid it like the plague. Incidentally, she did, however, eventually get her 20 refund but it was a long wait.
Costly to run and repair June 11, 2008 P. Whittle 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bough one for my uncle who used it ok for six months. Spend a lot on ink. Now it has broken - E3 - paper jam - a common fault. Courier required to return it which is not worthwhile.
It's not taking in paper May 30, 2008 Great Scot (Morecambe, Lancs, UK) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm gutted. Although it only cost me 21 with the 20 cashback I cannot believe it has just decided to stop taking in paper. The ink is really expensive. Make sure you put the ink settings on the lowest quality. I'd spent over 100 (no joking) in the first month. What now? I understand from other reviewer I'll need to send it via courier for repair. Hardly worth it, now I'm left with ink to sell. Anyone want to buy some ink carts for a MP210. Canon originals.
