Works well enough June 3, 2008 Dr Robert A D Cran (Cape Town, South Africa) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have a kerbside flower bed here in Cape Town, South Africa which dogs used to urinate and defecate on as they were being walked by their owners. This was not good for the flowers or those tending them. It was really amusing to see how this unit worked: after installation the dogs' owners could be seen walking on the opposite side of the street from mine, led there by their dogs who now wanted to avoid my flower bed. It is a little awkward to get at when you need to replace batteries. I may install a mains power supply at some point. Here the weather can be blazing sun in summer and oppressively wet in winter. This unit survives both extremes.
Effective - but requires external power source. December 30, 2007 S. Marshall (Hampshire, England) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
The battery compartment is difficult too get to with you having to remove eight screws. There is a 12v external power inlet which has a cover on it which you have to snap off-and-on for access (I think one of the other reviewers has mistaken that as the control knob). The controls are under a flap on the left hand side. The unit can be off, on-constant or on-sensor with three different frequency settings. The device does work but really requires an external power source as otherwise it eats batteries.
not very happy October 13, 2007 Mr. J. Wormsley (united kingdom) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I ordered this item believing that it was battery or mains powered and it is only battery, you have to dismantle the thing to place batteries by removing eight screws to get to the compartment. The setting lever just turns round and round with no markings as to what setting you are on and no idea if it is switched on or off. I bought four big batteries at a cost of 5.90 and still no idea if it's working. I returned the item the following day asking for a refund. This model l have is supposed to be a new improved model. Would hate to see the model before.
Pest stop outdoor May 22, 2006 E. M. Sutton (Middx United Kingdom) 40 out of 40 found this review helpful
This is badly designed, has limited range. It wont work in a large garden (PIR has max 30ft)or allotment. If you know where the pests are getting in then it may. The plastic does not look very outdoor durable. The battery cover fixes on by screws and has no seals etc.
