1 out of 5 stars Bring on san andreas or vice city 2.   July 5, 2008

If there is one word i can use for my feelings towards this game,it would be,DISGUST.There is no way this game lives up to the so called,"hype".If i was to sit here, telling you everything that i feel is wrong with this game, there would be page after page.To me rockstar have lost there way with this game, after the classic's,of vice city & san andreas, this edition of GTA,does not belong on same self,as them.If anything they have taken us back to gta3,with game play,e.g.driving the cars, and the darkness of the game.So if like me you have been waiting for this game since you finished san andreas,or since the ps3 was launched, then your in for a big shock. Please let's hope they bring out the next GTA soon, and let's hope, that this time they tap into the possibillity's,that the ps3 can deliver, let's hope they go back to,vice city & san andreas, and use them as the guide lines for a true classic game. This is what we wanted, this is what we deserve, for the money we pay,and the time we wait.So bring it on.

4 out of 5 stars Disappointing... =[   July 3, 2008

This was supposed to be immense, but it isn't.
The offline is fairly fun but leaves you unfulfilled once completed, not particuarly replayable.
I felt it was easy... completed in about a week.
Online is good but soooooo repetitive so only get the game if you are a die hard fan or have loads of money.
Your best of getting COD4, Oblivion or MGS 4...

3 out of 5 stars Worth getting   June 30, 2008

I was really dissapointed by the offline game play missions etc. And think that Rockstar have tried to make the game to realistic this time rather than being fun. Because of that i havent done much offline.

Online is a different matter though, i really think it adds a new dimension to the game and would not recommend it without online play. Especially with friends on headset its so much fun.

So i do recommend this game for online reason only.

3 out of 5 stars Doesn't live up to the hype   June 27, 2008

The game was supposed to be revolutionary, it promised amazing online gameplay and a nice long single player. The single player was good but it had setbacks. For example, you will find when you die in GTA 4 on a mission, you have to go back to the start for the tedious car drives that are the beginning of most missions. The feature that allows you to skip parts already completed was present in GTA San Andreas but was removed in the final game. For those of us who are not 'hardcore' gamers or have an infinite amount of time available to replay each mistake again and again it is an unnecessary annoyance that you don't pay 40 for.

The online experience was well overdue and a greatful addition to the game, though sadly the graphics on the playstation 3 online were very low standard. I never really noticed much but the xbox got higher, which annoys me because myself and a friend have a console rivalry. The thing that annoyed me about online was the connections. I have a reasonable connection but all I could connect to most of the time was a game that you have to plant bombs in a rival business's ship. I don't remember what it's called because I haven't played it in a while. The point is that I could only play a couple of team deathmatches in a week. It was annoying, but the game made up for it with the free play game type. Running around killing random people is very fun, despite the fact half of the people get an RPG and just spam it as they are unable to fire a weapon at point blank range and hit you, but apart from all these grievances I have with the game, if you have a lot of patience and a good connection then it is worth getting to add to your collection.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good with a few irritations   June 27, 2008

I have given this game 5 stars but really I think it is somewhere in between a 4 and a 5. I'd give it a 9/10.

what this game does well it does superbly and I'm not going to go into detail because there are plenty of reviews doing that. the environment is stunning, the characters and acting are flawless, the internet is a great idea and works very well. The driving feels great. Mobile phone is excellent.

My only critisism is that you are encouraged to keep freinds happy to access thier special services, it puts a downer on the game. The activities involve some very poor side games like pool darts and bowling, all of which are awful, or driving miles to a restaurant or caberet which is repetative. I found myself wanting to unlock the second island and therefore wanting to work through missions and had no interest in keeping people happy at all. I think if the activities that you do with freinds were more varied and played better that idea would be ok maybe.

This may stop the game from being perfect in my opinion, but the overall experience is wonderful and immersive and a big improvement on the series without losing the GTA feel.
