Cheap price, but doesn't work well enough to justify buying it April 29, 2008 N. Bogdanovic (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this box on the strength of some positive reviews (there are always lots at the start, aren't there? Hmmm...) and for its cheap price point. Unfortunately, the list of problems with software and channel switch glitches (see other review comments previously) makes it a poor product, according to my experiences with it, and the money would be better spent on something that works more or less all of the time - which this product doesn't. My advice - put your money into something worthwhile, or you just end up spending it twice. My box is going back!
Useless April 27, 2008 Dr. J. H. Beattie (Scotland, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The reception in the area of my house is not good but two previous digital Freeview boxes at least gave reasonable reception for the major channels. This set top box gave poor broken reception for even the strongest signal channels. It's completely useless to me.
Much Ado About Nothing - no signal was picked up! April 26, 2008 S. Gayet (London, UK) I was very impressed by the design of this freview box, however, I was uterly disappointed by the fact that the box could not find a signal. According to the freeview website, I live in an area with good coverage; my neighbour has a box and he told me his works fine. I called the Phillips people, we did all the checks and they ended up suggesting I return the product.
Too many issues April 15, 2008 T. Butterfield (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This box has some major software glitches including: *regular loss of the channel info (requires reboot) *channels suddenly not working (reboot useless - just have to wait for them to come back in their own time) *anyoning popup window that comes up all the time telling you its updated the channel list. My last box was unbranded and, although not perfect, didn't have anything like these very fustrating issues. I would advise you avoid this Philips box. more effort should have been focused on the software testing than on making the menus look pretty.
Rubbish! Loads of Faults April 14, 2008 V. Fowler (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this before Christmas and it always had a few irritating glitches, eg the popup warning that comes every now and again and the fact that sometimes the menus and screen displays just give up and can't be bothered any more. the worst thing is now that something seems to have gone in it. the screen is now permanently weird and green and the menu is green too. VERY annoying. It does look pretty cool though ;)
