2 out of 5 stars adobe 6!   July 23, 2008
S. F. Haley (huddersfield hd8)
Bought this a few months ago very difficult to master.
Wanted to transfer raw camera data dynax 5d to tiff or jpeg
wouldn`t transfer to tiff so tried jpeg but there was a problem, the jpeg files were exclusively for web use only so the pics were tiny..
Why cant i buy a simple programme to transfer raw to tiff or jpeg without all these complications?
if u r like me this could prove a dissapoitment!

2 out of 5 stars Potential problems with Vista   July 10, 2008
P11B (London)
To be open minded it is clear that some people are installing Elements and having no problems and at first I thought it was just me or my hardware! You might think so from the help Adobe are providing with a lack of updates and no upfront advice. But do a little more research and you will find problems are common.
In my case this is evident in the over 2 minutes to open a file in full edit. That is over 2 minutes for every photo I want to edit (longer if the editor is not already open). I am using a new fast dual core machine, 4 gigs of ram etc etc . I have also checked it on a reasonably fast laptop with the same problems. Open up a few photos to edit at the same time and I get the Vista "program not responding" message.
By comparison using the GIMP editor takes under 10 seconds.

It is hard to tell if this is an Adobe or a Microsoft problem but at least for the time being Elements is nearly unusable for me.

My strong recommendation is to try it and see if it works for you.

1 out of 5 stars Problems with Vista   July 7, 2008

Purchased PSE 6 some 3 weeks ago and as at todate have been unble to access package either via desk top icon or through start menu.

It appears this is a problem if Vista is your operating package. Unfortunetly neither Amazon or Adobe advertise this.

Have emailed Adobe 3 times and yet very little response.

So if anybody knows of a way of getting it to work with Vista please let me and other know.

3 out of 5 stars Nice Editor, but Organizer is flawed   June 2, 2008

After using Elements 6 for 5 months now, I can honestly say that I've given it an extended road test.

On the whole, I'm pleased with it but there is one major problem that makes the Organizer part of the software all but useless to me. Basically, importing RAW images (in my case from a Canon DSLR) when installed on a multi-core processor (e.g. Core Duo) will result in broken image icons being displayed for many images. Much searching of user forums has revealed that this is a known bug for which there is still no fix.

If you do not intend to use the Organizer or if you are using an older machine, then I can recommend the ease of use of the Editor component, including for RAW images. But, if you are looking for an integrated, simple-but-powerful photo management program, I suggest looking elsewhere for now.

5 out of 5 stars Ricky on ps 6!   March 16, 2008

This digital imaging suite is fantastic, and very well thought out. It does justice to the pics i take on my olympus camera.I purchased the book "classroom in a book" also by adobe which is very clearly presented. It costs a fraction of photoshop cs3 but does most of what it can do.
All in all a bargain!!
